    decided to move further to Hoi an

    after arrival we decided to move plans around . skipping Hue - and take a taxi to Hoi An.

    already found a nice hotel - after a night in train we decided to have a better hotel for the one night.

    Hoi An by night - Romantic awesomeness

    old buildings mix up by Vietnamese latern - unbelievable nice. nothing which can be captured by any cam.

    lucky us - today was food festival 2017, where they had 9 chefs out of 9 countries cooking special food forevery part.

    We we took the Malaysian beef curry - very delicious.

    riding a boat as well as putting a wish in the water via a burning candle in a latern .

    now to bed - tomorrow morning pool, then off to the caves 500km bus ride.    Weiterlesen

    conti breakfast- suit collection

    started with a swim in the pool - another teaching lesson for my guide.

    first time in Asia- we took the breakfast included within the hotel. of course it was a continental one - bread omelette, Bacon. now I feel bad as stuffed as usual. next morning I want soup !😉

    ready for another pool swim and pack. our bus leaves 2pm

    bus ride to Phong Nha Cave

    on our way -7h bus ride in sleeping bus.

    After 3h quick stop in Hue, city looks ok - next time to be suspected in details.

    moving on, the night came quick - the bus is driving as king on the road - everyone has to move aside. I bet the honk it has, is normaly installed on a ship from the dB point of view 😉 some situations are really close with the bikers, as they are more than relaxed and move aside pretty slowly. as the driver is most on the phone talking riding one handed and way to fast I do understand the high number of killed people in Vietnam traffic .Weiterlesen

    arrival Phong Nha CoCo House

    arrival was 10 pm - little like 1h late. as you can tell it started to rain - as in tropical areas it is warm and does not matter to much.

    we rented via AirBNB and our host catched us via bike - one each. no helmet and rain - luckily just 800m.

    accommodation is basic but ok - 26€ nothing to complain about. this night is with roomshare - early up tomorrow to rent a bike and go to the caves.    Weiterlesen

    Djungle tour by bike to cave

    we rented a bike to get us through the jungle where the cave is located.

    I loved the ride as this was pure fun. this time i did drive myself this time as the traffic was minor.

    to the cave we had an 1 hour hike which got very steep hill with 300m elevation to the entrance.

    the cave itself - unbelievable awesome - is the biggest in the world. I learned it's 31.4km long. the part we could see ourselves is about 1km. loads of stalactits in giagigantic size. in the silent part of the cave I took a meditation which was very relaxing.

    after lunch at the bottom of the hill - we took thr same road home - but drive through the countryside. cows on the street all by themselves= normal. honking does not impress them at all.

    arrival Hanoi

    we arrived 4.45 way to early to get the hotel rooms. so we walked the backpackers district and decided to book via airbnb.

    breakfast and recharging the phones.

    We where lucky to get a cheap hotel as most were already taken today. more kuck as we already got another room to shower and take a power nap.

    ho chi minh and learning tempel

    After Chicago Sears Tower waiting queue- the longest I have seen so far. the purpose to see the dead präsident ho chi minh was easy to skip. but I still wanted to take pictures from the famous spot. my guide sneaked us through and saved hours of waiting.

    after the pretty experience, we walked to the Gate of the learning temple. We had three girls from Chile joining as they looked lost on their way. funny to see other who just arrived in Vietnam- and remember my self being that newbie weeks ago. lucky us a lot of graduates celebrated their finish in a special traditional way. that enriched the place by far.

    nice temple on the 54.000m2 as well.

    enjoying special Hanoi food for lunch - Chum Ga, which is barbecued pork in ricenudelsoup with greens. back to hotel to relax the feets.

    first impression Hanoi, ok as a short stay but not the pups and the flair from HCM. let see what afternoon on the lake side will be able to change    Weiterlesen

    lake and nightwalk

    the lake showed a very different part of the city. good choice we made to take Sunday as Hanoi, as this is a special day - street is closed around the lake. a lot of games are played around like rope pull or jump- karaoke or various other artist. loads of family using this to celebrate the afternoon/night with a fair mix of backpackers. very romantic lightning and surrounding. with this Hanoi is worth a second thought , like next time 2 days

    dinner at the lake - hotel as tomorrow 7:45 pickup from friend of my guide to halong bay. ship overnight stay- looking forward to this experience.    Weiterlesen

    ha long bay cruise and stay over night

    from weather we are first time not so lucky- but still no rain on our arrival day. my guide got me upgraded to the best room - very nice.

    We went out to experience the environment via kajak. After after the dinner was served very delicious- the red wine from Chile was the best I had so far on this trip.

    the first meal which was springroles we did ourselves. not that difficult but delicious

    squiddfishing and some games at night.

    the morning it was raining - so no sunsraise pictures although I put the alarm for 6 am.

    skipped the morning session to go to the cave as I had to dry my clothes I washed the other day to pack on time.

    ride back to harbaor the sun came out and I finally could take some nice pictures from the boat.    Weiterlesen

    back Hanoi- water puppet theatre next

    after the bus ride our last hotel was happy to store our luggage. as we still have time before fhe train leaves we invited Pham our guide from the boat and friend from lunch to have dinner with us.

    water puppet theatre is very famous - so we will have the show 6.30

    nice rooftop bar with lake view - insider restaurant

    just meet to French who travel the continent from left to right - 29km on a bike ! I am inspired 😀😉    Weiterlesen

    drive by bike to local mountain people

    we decided to go by two bikes this time - the scenery is very similar to the alps, so I did not want to miss the fun riding the curves myself.

    lucky as we are during the full trip, the rain stopped the clouds faded and we had sun the full ride long.

    We drove upside the main road into the mountain where the local ethnic minority lives. I did not expect them to be such friendly - everybody is waiving at you and cheers a hello, even the small kids. the poverty is more visible then in Can Touh - the first time in South I have seen the pure.

    as higher you get into the mountain area the more pure the people live. I am impressed on how basic people can make their lives work and still look very happy. thanks to my guide I could hold several conversations and learned tons about how they live what they do and how they think about live.

    loads of inspirational input were I have to think about how to put this to myself

    tour ended at lunch back in Sapa.

    tonight is my last hotelstay in Vietnam- as tomorrow we take the night train to Hanoi again. leaving to Bangkok the day after.

    but till then- tomorrow we hike and add some biketour - leaving Sapa 5 pm    Weiterlesen

    sapa second day - bike and bike

    like yesterday it started with rain therefore we slow paced the morning.

    waiting in the lobby we started with green tea waiting on the rain to pass by.

    not far from the hotel we had our breakfast next to an open fire with a gorgeous view into the valley.

    first time hot top - I like!

    We skipped the hike - went the other direction - this time 1 bike only. gorgeous views.

    good bye Vietnam- back to Thailand

    a wonderful time have past rather quickly. this country delivered me way more then I could ever imagine and expect. making local friends was key to the maximum insights and special experiences. For sure I made new real life friends and will pay back on counter trips.

    this country will see me soon again - as I still found so many things I have not seen.

    For now- this is it. saying good bye and Auf Wiedersehen.
