Among those 350 dairy industry volunteer attendees at the fair are local dairy farmers who deliver cows from their herds to this birthing exhibit. The cows are carefully selected for health, temperament and when they will give birth at the exhibit under the watchful eye of a veterinarian and herdsman present around the clock. The cows are kept comfortable in one of two large pens at the exhibit, an effort that includes managing traffic flow of fairgoers, who are asked to be quiet and respectful to the birthing cows.Read more
