  • On Our Way!

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 59 °F

Chris is taking us to the airport this morning. We're starting off at LGA this time, since our first stop is going to be Detroit. The sun hasn't even come up yet but I don't mind. I prefer getting an early start when we travel.Læs mere

  • Checking In

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 59 °F

Checking in was quick and painless since it's still so early. There wasn't even anyone ahead of us on line. The worker who checked us in was telling us that he had gone to Beijing last year and loved it. This makes us even more excited to start our vacation!Læs mere

  • Security Check

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 59 °F

I guess the airport seemed so empty because everyone is on the TSA security line. We got on the line expecting the worst but it moved a lot faster than we thought it would. Even going through the X-ray check was quick. Now on to Gate C16!Læs mere

  • C16

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 59 °F

We're here at Gate C16 waiting to board the plane. Rather than the standard seating area, the area is set up like a restaurant with charging stations at every seat. There's been a lot of construction going on at the airport and it's nice to see some of the results. It's a lot more comfortable here than it used to be.Læs mere

  • Waiting

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 59 °F

Free WiFi and chargers for the phones makes the waiting time much more bearable. Having charging stations available to everyone is a great idea and I'm hoping that this idea starts catching on at other airports. It's always better to get on the plane with everything fully charged. It's almost time to start lining up to board. The time seemed to pass by quickly!Læs mere

  • Ready to Board

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

It's just about time to go and people are starting to line up to get on the plane. I hope that we don't have a problem finding a storage spot for our bags! It seems like everyone likes to carry on their luggage nowdays. Not only do you save money by not checking a bag, you save time not having to go to the baggage claim area. Also, although it's rare, there's no chance of the airline losing your bags. It's never happened to me before. In fact, I don't even know anyone who's had that happen.Læs mere

  • Boarding

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

We're seated in the exit row again, as usual. As we were settling in the stewardess came and asked if we are willing to help passengers in need if there in any trouble. We said yes but I wonder how legally binding an agreement like that really is. I'm sure that if there are any problems the only person that I'm going to be helping is Kathy!Læs mere

  • Here We Go!

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 61 °F

And we're off! I decided to film our taking off from JFK. I'm thinking that this would have come out much better if I used one of those GoPro cameras. I'm really considering getting myself one. I think that it would be fantastic for when we travel. Hopefully I'll get one soon.Læs mere

  • We're Flying!

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

For our first leg of the trip, we're flying from LaGuardia to Detroit. That's such a short distance when compared to the entire trip. Still, it will be nice to get out and stretch our legs for a bit.

  • Blue Skies

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☀️ 59 °F

It's been a great flight so far. We didn't get a meal but that's understandable because the flight is very short. We did get cookies and water though. Kathy didn't care for them but I liked them a lot. They were sort of like a gingerbread. I'm going to try to find them in the grocery store back home. They were very tasty!Læs mere

  • Almost There

    23. september 2018, Canada ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

We've nearly reached Detroit but this is not what I was expecting to see. I had thought that I'd be seeing a big city. Not anything on the scale of New York City or Chicago but maybe something close.

  • Welcome to Detroit

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

This is our first look at Detroit as we're getting off of the plane. We're going to be here for a few hours while we wait for our connecting flight going to Beijing. I hope that there's some interesting things to do here while we wait. A good restaurant would be nice too. It's just about time for lunch.Læs mere

  • Moving Walkways

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

The airport here in Detroit has so many of these moving walkways. I'm having fun walking so fast on these walkways and then jumping off at the end. The momentum from moving so fast along the walkway makes it feel as if you are flying for a moment when you jump off. I know that doing this is immature but it sure is fun!Læs mere

  • Walk This Way

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

Kathy doesn't run down the walkways like I do. In fact, she doesn't even walk on them. She just stands calmly and let's the walkway take her where she wants to go. I stand with her sometimes but it's hard to resist trying to go as fast as I can on these things. It's almost like a ride!Læs mere

  • Worst Service Ever!

    23. september 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

We wanted to have lunch before we got on the plane since we were sure that the food served on the airplane would be horrible. We wanted to eat at Potbelly's but couldn't figure out how to get there since it was in a different terminal. With not too many choices around us, we decided to settle for Popeye's. What a mistake! Not only was it very expensive, which we expected since it was in the airport, but the customer service was abysmal! There was five people working on the counter and, for some reason, it took nearly half an hour for us to get our food. I could maybe understand this if the restaurant was crowded but, besides us, there were only two people there waiting. This is inexcusable! The workers there seemed very lazy. Most of the time they just stand around and use their phones, not even caring that customers are waiting. If I was the manager there, I would have fired all of them!Læs mere
