  • We're Here!

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

After all that traffic to get here, the lines at the ticket windows don't seem all that bad. I'm pleasantly surprised because I was expecting another huge line here, like we waited on to park. I hope the rest of the park is not so busy, like it is here. We haven't been to Busch Gardens in years. It's good to be back!Les mer

  • Welcome to Busch Gardens!

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

We're in! The different "lands" at Busch Gardens are split up as several different European countries. They don't seem to really match what these countries are actually like but more of a stereotypical view of what people might imagine about each place. As you first enter the park, you find yourself in England. It's very colorful and looks great. There are no rides here, mostly shops and a theater for putting on shows. I'm happy to see that the park is not as crowded as I was expecting. Apparently, not all the entrance lanes were open and everyone switching lanes to get in was what caused all that traffic.Les mer

  • Follow the Rules!

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

I hope that this rule is actually enforced. I haven't had a problem with it but I understand that this can be a big problem in the Disney parks, especially with Spanish people. The worst offenders are said to be Brazilian tour groups. Apparently, they cut the line in big groups and then, when people complain, they first act like they don't know they're doing anything wrong and when it's explained that cutting the line is unacceptable they pretend they don't understand because they say they don't speak English. Everyone knows that they really do understand because lines exist in Brazil also.Les mer

  • A Real Budweiser Clydesdale!

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

The next land that we came to was Scotland. Like England, there are no rides here and there's not very much to do other than seeing the famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses. You can see them either in their stable or out in the corral. These big horses are magnificent! They look big in the Budweiser tv commercials but even bigger in person!Les mer

  • Welcome to Ireland!

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

The next land that we came to was Ireland. Ireland used to have the best attraction in the park, Corkscrew Hill, one of those 4-D interactive movies. It was about a witch shrinking down the audience and you're found by a boy in Ireland who brings you around to others trying to get your size restored. As you get brought around, you see a lot of Ireland as well as it's mythology and legends. It was a fantastic attraction and I'm sorry it's gone. I wish I knew why this was closed down. All that's left in Ireland now is a show featuring Irish dancing, a restaurant, and a spot for some quick service meals.Les mer

  • Where is Everyone?

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

Where is everybody? Kathy and I have Ireland almost completely to ourselves! Granted, it's still early and the restaurants and shows aren't open yet but I would have expected a lot more people around. It's just too bad that there's not much here to really do or even photograph. I always dream of being at Disney World when it's so empty like this! One day, I hope..Les mer

  • The Old Tree

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

I still remember this tree. It used to be standing next to the Corkscrew Hill attraction. It's even depicted on a Busch Gardens coffee mug that Veronica got years ago. She wanted it so much because it had her name on it. She always used to check for items with her name but I guess her's is an uncommon name because it's almost never found on theme park merchandise. When she found the Busch Gardens mug, she just had to have it. I remember her being so proud to have a mug with her name on it. Children get so happy from the smallest of things. I'm glad this tree is still here but it's definitely seen better days.Les mer

  • Lorikeet Glen

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

As you enter Lorikeet Glen, you can purchase nectar to feed the lories. Depending on how hungry they are, they may fly to you for a drink which is a very unique experience. As we got there, no more nectar was being sold but I was determined to come back and feed the birds later. I did it years ago and really liked it. It's one of the best experiences in Busch Gardens! Lorikeet Glen isn't in any of the Busch Gardens lands, that I know of, it's sort of in between lands.Les mer

  • Starbucks?

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

This is the Starbucks in France where Kathy got her drink. This doesn't look anything like a Starbucks! I'm surprised that the company allows this place to look so different. I guess, being in a theme park, it needs to blend in with the rest of the park, and the Starbucks company makes allowances for that. I'm sure they're just happy to be selling their products in Busch Gardens!Les mer

  • Ready to Drop

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

Join the bravest of ride warriors and challenge yourself to the 205-foot, 90-degree, 75 mph free fall. Some say that just waiting your turn to ride Griffon is a heart-pounding experience in itself, as you anticipate the moment of that cliffhanger drop on this tour de force roller coaster by B&M. Spectators get in on the fun, too, with thrilling vantage points and one serious soak zone kids love.Les mer

  • The Need for Speed

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

Nothing says France like a big roller coaster! Aside from this ride, there wasn't too much else to do in France. I was able to spend a few minutes shooting this rollercoaster while Kathy was getting her drink from Starbucks. We were noticing that all of these lands, while beautifully decorated, were quite small and didn't really have much to do there. Basically, each one had a restaurant, souvenir shops, rest rooms, and possibly a ride or show. I hope it gets better as we get further into the park.Les mer

  • Never Postpone Joy

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

Roller coasters are something that Kathy and I used to enjoy a lot when we were younger. Now, her back won't let her ride them and I've become much more cautious of rides as I've gotten older. The sad part is, we enjoy going to theme parks but, more than ever, they are becoming nothing more than rollercoaster parks. That's a big reason on why I love the Disney parks. Disney's rides are designed for the whole family, not mostly for teens and young adults. I'm really hoping this rollercoaster trend stops but I'm not seeing any sign of it. If anything, the rides keep becoming more and more wild.Les mer

  • Griffon

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

I miss riding on rollercoasters. I don't know what made me start being afraid to get on one but I just can't bring myself to do it. Right now, the only rollercoasters that I ride are the ones at Walt Disney World. The ones there are not quite as rough or wild plus there are surrounded with so much backstory and themes that it's such a rich and immersive experience. I think Universal Studios is like that too but I haven't been to a Universal Studios park in years. If we went, I think I'd try one of their rollercoasters. Maybe..Les mer

  • The Grizzly

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 81 °F

Right next to France was, oddly enough, Canada. Not just Canada, but the Pacific Northwest region of Canada. I thought that Busch Gardens would stick with their European countries theme, but I guess not. I'm thinking that they put Canada near France because French is spoken in both places? If that was the case though, they should have used models of Montreal or Quebec. I don't think French is widely spoken in the Pacific Northwest region. Still, this part of the park looks great!Les mer

  • Old Chief Woodenhead

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 81 °F

I'm not sure what it is about them, but I've always been fascinated by these cigar store Indians. I had always thought that these Indians were distinctively American creations. If that's the case, then this one is a bit far from home, standing in what's supposed to be Canada, at least Canada as Busch Gardens imagines it to be. I guess they figure he fits right in with the wooden bears I've been seeing.Les mer

  • Le Scoot

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 81 °F

The French Canadian land actually had a ride! It was a traditional log flume attraction which I would have liked to ride but Kathy didn't want to get wet. I didn't want to ride alone so we passed on it. It's okay though. I would have been worried about getting the camera wet anyway. Also, since there didn't seem to be many rides yet, the few that we saw had very long lines. I didn't want to waste so much time waiting on a line. It's more fun to see things and explore the rest of the park.Les mer

  • Le Scoot Log Flume

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 81 °F

Log fumes have always been one of my favorite sort of rides, at least they were when I was younger. Now, I'm more hesitant to ride them. The main reason is that I'm worried about getting my camera gear wet. I see some people leaving their stuff by the rides loading area and then picking everything up when they get off the ride. My camera gear is too expensive to just leave it like that. I'd be so worried about someone taking it that I wouldn't even be able to enjoy myself on the ride. It's just not worth it.Les mer

  • Time for Fun

    22. august 2016, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 81 °F

Germany was the next land but I didn't see anything there that really made me think of Germany. There was another big rollercoaster, Alpengeist, and the area surrounding it was made to like like a ski village with little touches like this clock made from broken skis but skiing doesn't really say Germany to me. If I had to guess, I would have said that this land is Switzerland or maybe Austria. I think those places are more known for skiing. I was waiting for a long time for that seated woman to leave. She never did so I just had to shoot this as is. I should have gotten a tighter crop, I think. Next time..Les mer
