Airlie Beach

Deutsch:
Heute sind wir um 5:30 Uhr aufgewacht, da wie schon erwähnt unser Sport etwas riskant an einer Straße lag. Da alles feucht war, gab es auch morgens noch sehr viele Mücken. Deshalb haben wir unser Auto provisorisch zusammen gepackt und sind für einen Kaffee an den Hafengefahren. Dort haben wir ein wunderschönes Frühstück während des Sonnenaufgangs gehabt. Danach ist Pauline eine Runde spazieren gegangen, während ich abgespült und mich um das Auto gekümmert habe (Öl Kontrolle nachgefüllt etc). Als Pauline wieder zurückgekommen ist, sind wir zusammen in ein Freibad gegangen, der Eintritt ist dort tatsächlich kostenlos, was für uns Traveller natürlich sehr praktisch ist, da wir uns duschen können. Wir waren beide recht müde, da die Nacht etwas unruhig durch die Mücken war und haben uns dort noch mal ein Stündchen zum Schlafen in den Schatten gelegt. Ich bin etwas früher gegangen, um mich nach einem Angelladen um zu schauen. Während dessen musste ich bemerken, dass wir meine Schuhe vor dem Freibad Besuch leider bei den Frühstücksbänken stehen lassen habe. Als ich zurückgefahren bin, um sie zu suchen, waren sie weg und wurden leider geklaut. Das ist etwas unpraktisch da ich nun nur noch Flip Flops und meine Birkenstock habe. Das reicht aber da ich auch relativ viel barfuß laufen kann aber dennoch werde ich mir Wanderschuhe zulegen, wenn auch gebraucht da gerade im Outback natürlich das Risiko höher sein kann und ich bei längeren Spaziergängen feste Schuhe brauche. Heute haben wir Bowen verlassen und sind Richtung Airlie Beach gefahren. Dort angekommen sind uns sofort das türkisfarbene Wasser und die sehr touristische Lage aufgefallen. Auch wenn viel los ist, sind die Strände schön und die Stadt vielseitig und belebt. Wir sind zusammen die Einkaufsstraße entlang gelaufen und haben uns danach für eine Zeit getrennt, da ich gern an den Strand wollte und so schwimmen und entspannen und Pauline sich noch gerne mehr die Stadt angucken wollte. Kurz bevor unser Parkticket abgelaufen wäre, haben wir uns wieder getroffen und ich habe mich davor natürlich auch noch etwas in der Stadt umgesehen. Abendessen gab es mit Meerblick auf einem anderen Parkplatz.
Für den Abend haben wir uns auf Google Maps einen Rastplatz mit kostenlosem Campingplatz auf dem Weg rausgesucht. Dieser war allerdings 1,5 bis 2 Stunden Autofahrt entfernt. Da Pauline die letzten Nächte nicht gut schlafen konnte, hat sie während der Fahrt etwas gedöst und ich hatte eine sehr entspannte Nachtfahrt. Dort angekommen haben wir das Zelt aufgebaut Pauline hat sich hingelegt und ich habe mich noch vor das Auto gesetzt, um eine Doku zu gucken und etwas zu entspannen. Im Anschluss daran bin ich auch ins Bett gegangen.

Today we woke up at 5:30 a.m. because, as already mentioned, our sport was a bit risky on a road. As everything was damp, there were still a lot of mosquitoes in the morning. So we provisionally packed up our car and drove to the harbor for a coffee. We had a wonderful breakfast there as the sun rose. Afterwards, Pauline went for a walk while I washed up and took care of the car (topped up the oil, etc.). When Pauline came back, we went to an outdoor swimming pool together. Entry is actually free there, which is of course very practical for us travelers as we can take a shower. We were both quite tired as the night had been a bit restless due to the mosquitoes, so we lay down in the shade for another hour to sleep. I left a little earlier to look around for a fishing store. While I was there, I realized that we had unfortunately left my shoes by the breakfast benches before our visit to the outdoor pool. When I went back to look for them, they were gone and unfortunately stolen. This is a bit inconvenient as I now only have flip flops and my Birkenstocks. But that's enough as I can walk barefoot quite a lot, but I'm still going to buy some walking boots, albeit second-hand, as the risk can be higher in the outback and I need sturdy shoes for longer walks. Today we left Bowen and drove towards Arlie Beach. Once there, we immediately noticed the turquoise water and the very touristy location. Even though there is a lot going on, the beaches are beautiful and the town is diverse and lively. We walked along the shopping street together and then split up for a while, as I wanted to go to the beach to swim and relax and Pauline wanted to see more of the city. We met up again just before our parking ticket would have expired and of course I had a look around the city beforehand. We had dinner with a sea view in another parking lot.
For the evening, we used Google Maps to find a rest area with a free campsite on the way. However, it was 1.5 to 2 hours' drive away. As Pauline hadn't been able to sleep well the last few nights, she dozed off during the drive and I had a very relaxing night's sleep.
