  • Orang-Utans

    8 de abril de 2025, Malasia 🌧 27 °C

    Deutsch:

My alarm went off early today because I wanted to go to a park to see orangutans. You can go there twice a day for 2 hours each time to take part in a “feeding”. The orangutans live there in freedom and don't always come to get two bananas. This is more of an opportunity for a small snack.
Once there, a few bananas were placed and in fact 3 monkeys came to get some. One of them was even carrying a baby in his arms. It was a great experience, unfortunately the sky was very overcast that day, which is why the pictures with my camera didn't turn out very well (due to a lack of light). I had a nice chat about photography with an elderly gentleman there. When the visiting window was over, I went to a dumpling house for lunch and then went for a short walk through a nearby park. Around noon I had my tattoo appointment which lasted about 2.5 hours. When we were finally finished, I went back to my fishing pond and fished for 3 hours without success. Even though I wasn't lucky, it was still a really nice evening. On the way back, I went to a Japanese restaurant. The food there is at least one of the top 5 since I've been in Asia!

  • Auffangstation

    9 de abril de 2025, Malasia ☁️ 31 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
Today I wanted to take a boat to a nearby national park. On the way there I went to get some money, water and breakfast and when I arrived at the jetty I realized that there were no more boats available. For this reason, I decided to postpone the tour until the next day. As an alternative program, I first went into town, walked through a bazaar and went to a nearby photo store. Afterwards, I went to a rescue center for injured wild animals, where the animals are supposedly only nursed back to health and then released. I don't believe this, however, as the monkeys looked really unhappy and the Sun bears showed the typical signs of mental illness that occur in bears after a long time in captivity. They always walk in circles or the same route through their cage. The enclosures were very small and poorly set up, at least I was able to take good pictures showing the situation in the park. I will upload these to their website with a corresponding rating. I am ashamed to have supported this facility with my paid admission, even if I couldn't have known that in advance. The only exception were the orangutans, they didn't look particularly unhappy but I assume that they really do have to be released back into the wild due to regulations. After this rather depressing experience, I went back to the photo store to buy a new strap for my camera. When I got back to my room, I turned on a documentary and ordered something to eat.

  • Schöner letzter Tag

    10 de abril de 2025, Malasia ☁️ 29 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
Today I woke up with the knowledge that this will be the last day of my trip around the world. My feelings are very mixed. On the one hand, of course, I'm looking forward to seeing my family and friends back home, but on the other, I'm going to miss life as a backpacker very much!
As I wanted to go to the national park today, I drove to the jetty quite early to take the short trip into the rainforest. Once I arrived, I chose a hiking trail and was lucky enough to see the first proboscis monkeys relatively quickly. On my further way, I was also able to see macaques and the local wild boars. Sometimes I was able to take some really great pictures, especially when the animals weren't in the dark jungle. In any case, it was very exciting to observe all of them. After these successful experiences, I walked a quite challenging track to a lookout and could see over the entire bay from there. It was a really beautiful view. Once I was back on the more normal paths, I went a little deeper into the jungle and was incredibly lucky to be able to observe a family of the actually rare proboscis monkeys very closely. I could also hear their grunting calls, which made me really happy. I watched the group for at least half an hour and then made my way back so as not to be too late at the jetty. On the way back, I was able to see another nocturnal animal from the see an animal that I didn't know what it was called or what species it belonged to. After I was dropped off back on the mainland, I went to the hotel and sunbathed for a while. That's something I'm really going to miss! To round off my last day, I went back to the good Japanese restaurant and had a delicious meal.
Before I went to bed, I cut my hair again and of course packed my things.

  • Tag der Reise

    11 de abril de 2025, Alemania ☀️ 18 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
After getting up, I went straight back to the orangutans. As today is Friday, it was of course busier and only one ape came out of the jungle briefly towards the end. However, the weather conditions were much better today and I was hopefully able to take some good pictures. Of course, I haven't had time to see them yet. After the long wait in the heat, I was naturally hungry and went to eat something at a small stall. I spent the rest of the day in the city. I bought 2 pairs of pants at the bazaar and quite a few souvenirs. When I had finished all my shopping, I drove to a parking lot, put everything away and tidied up my car. I left the car relatively early as I didn't want to risk missing my flight and so I was already sitting at the gate 4 hours before departure... To pass the time I made phone calls and continued writing my diary. Since I assumed that there would be nothing to eat on the short flight to kuala Lumpur, I ate a big plate of rice with chicken and was surprised to find that there was something after all. I was correspondingly full. I watched a movie on the short flight, which made the time fly by.
On my first long-haul flight to Dubai, I watched another movie and simply slept through the rest.
I did a few organizational things in Dubai and then boarded the plane for my last leg to Frankfurt. I had two nice people in my row on the flight, we chatted a lot and I slept the rest of the time.
When I arrived in Germany, I was of course happy to see everyone again. After we arrived home we had coffee and chatted and in the evening two friends came over.
