Birmingham/Montgomery, AL

We drove to Birmingham AL but the Civil rights museum and 16th St Baptist church (where 4 girls died when a bomb was thrown into the church) were both closed. So we checked into our lovely air bnb a little ways out in the country in Chelsea AL. It was a nice basement apartment, sndce stayed 2 nights. There was a swimming pool that we didn't use, and a pretty pond. The host was kind and friendly. We had dinner with and old friend from high school, Debbie Spray Tewes and her husband, we hadn't seen each other since high school over 50 yrs ago!!
Wednesday we drove down to Montgomery to visit the Civil Rights museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, where there is memorials to over 4000 victims of lynching in the South. Sobering and thought provoking.Læs mere
