Pushkar - Holy City of India

Ieri (11.3.2024) sono arrivata nel primo pomeriggio a Pushkar, la città sacra dell India, dove non si trova ufficialmente ne alcool (anche se sottobanco si trova) ne carne o pesce.
È una cittadina indiana molto tranquilla, carina e con tanta gente gentilissima. Si trovano anche tanti bei negozietti per fare avquisti di tutti i tipi.
È una città sacra con più di 500 templi e con il lago di Pushkar, il lago sacro con la sua acqua santa per gli indiani, creduto di avere poteri purificativi.
La città presenta anche l’unico tempio di Brahma al mondo, in generetore dell’universo. La leggenda dice che Brahma, quando creò il mondo, lancio un fiore di Loto e questo si piantò proprio a Pushkar, dando vita al luogo sacro.

Ma questa non è la sola ragione perché a Pushkar si trova l’unico tempio di Brahma…un’altra leggenda racconta che al giorno del suo matrimonio, la moglie di Brahma arrivò in ritardo al loro matrimonio. Brahma molto arrabbiato disse ai suoi discepoli di cercare tutte le donne celibi a Pushkar e portargliene. Ne trovarono una, la quale venne immediatamente sposata da Brahma. Nel frattempo la moglie originale viene a conoscenza del fatto e maledice così Brahma, dicendogli che non avrà mai una famiglia ne altri templi a parte uno al mondo, quello di Pushkar.

Io a Pushkar ho fatto anche un rituale per la felicità, fortuna, ricchezza, salute eccetera, assieme alla mia guida Manish, che è stato molto interessante.

Ah un’altra cosa - Pushkar è famosa anche per le sue mucche e i suoi tori che girano per le strade della città, a cui devi fare attenzione per non venire incornato.

Domani ho un’altra giornata a Pushkar prima di spostarmi di nuovo a Delhi.

Yesterday (11.3.2024) I arrived in the early afternoon in Pushkar, the holy city of India, where you cannot officially find alcohol (even if you can find it in some places) or meat or fish.
It is a very quiet, nice Indian town with lots of very kind people. There are also many nice little shops to make purchases of all kinds.
It is a sacred city with more than 500 temples and with Pushkar Lake, the sacred lake with its holy water for the Indians, believed to have purifying powers.
The city also has the only temple of Brahma in the world, the creator of the universe. The Legend says that Brahma, when he created the world, threw a lotus flower and it planted itself in Pushkar, giving life to the sacred place.

But this is not the only reason why the only Brahma temple is located in Pushkar… another legend tells that on the day of her wedding, Brahma's wife arrived late to their wedding. Brahma very angry told his disciples to look for all the celibate women in Pushkar and bring them to him. They found one, who was immediately married by Brahma. In the meantime, the original wife learns of the fact and curses Brahma, telling him that he will never have a family or any other temples apart from one in the world, that of Pushkar.

In Pushkar I also did a ritual for happiness, luck, wealth, health etc., together with my guide Manish, which was very interesting.

Oh one more thing - Pushkar is also famous for its cows and bulls that roam the streets of the city, which you have to watch out for so as not to get gored.
