Eccomi al primo giorno di solo-traveler!
Dopo aver lasciato Bira, passato una giornata a Makassar, preso un bus notturno con le cuccette più comode del mondo, sono finalmente arrivata a Toraja!
Toraja è famosa per i suoi riti funerari e per la propria cultura, che ho potuto iniziare conoscere quest’oggi.
Preso lo scooter, sono andata a visitare il mercato dove vendono i bufali che vengono dati come sacrificio durante le cerimonio funerario. Più il bufalo è albino più è caro (costa diverse migliaia di franchi).
Dopodichè ho trovato delle case tipiche, chiamate Tongkonan, dove la proprietaria mi ha permesso di far visita a suo padre defunto da vent’anni, che si trova mummificato in casa.
Dopodiché sono finita alle caverne Londa, dove da migliaia di anni viene seppellita la stessa famiglia. La guida mi ha raccontato che le persone vengono seppellite più in superficie o in profondità, così come in altezza, a dipendenza del rango sociale. Più sei ricco, più vieni sepolto in alto, cosi che nessuno può rubare gli averi che la famiglia deposita nella bara.
Inoltre ogni 2/3 anni la famiglia riesuma i corpi, per pulirli e metterli in nuove bare.
Bellissima esperienza anche quando ho dovuto strisciare per 100m in un cunicolo per arrivare nella caverna successiva 😂
I prossimi giorni mi aspettano altre visite culturali nei dintorni 😊

Here I am on the first day of solo-traveler!
After leaving Bira, spending a day in Makassar, taking a night bus with the most comfortable sleepers in the world, I finally arrived in Toraja!
Toraja is famous for its funerary rites and its culture, which I was able to get to know today.
Having taken the scooter, I went to visit the market where they sell the buffaloes that are given as sacrifices during the funeral ceremony. The more albino the buffalo, the more expensive it is (it costs several thousand francs).
Then I found some typical houses, called Tongkonan, where the owner allowed me to visit her father who died twenty years ago, who was mummified in the house.
Then I ended up at the Londa Caves, where the same family has been buried for thousands of years. The guide told me that people are buried shallower or deeper, as well as higher, depending on their social rank. The richer you are, the higher you are buried, so that no one can steal the belongings that the family places in the coffin.
Furthermore, every 2/3 years the family exhumes the bodies, to clean them and place them in new coffins.
Great experience even when I had to crawl for 100m in a tunnel to get to the next cave 😂
