• Let it Snow

    December 1 in Finland ⋅ ☁️ -3 °C

Today was a rest day with nothing really planned. After a lovely slow morning just hanging out in the apartment we ventured out to browse the local shops and find somewhere for lunch. While it was cool when we left home and entered the shopping centre, by the time we walked out it had started snowing. Like children we rushed out to experience the gentle fall of the crystal snow. To our delight the snow only got heavier and while many were scurrying to shelter, Peta, Errol, Brad and I were almost dancing in the snow. It was exhilarating!
It was amazing how quickly the snow covered the streets, cars and footpaths. Roads had disappeared and yet cars were still driving. Thankfully that was not something we had to do.
We enjoyed our time in the snow before heading back for an afternoon nap. These four hour days of “sunlight” as just so exhausting. It is easy to have an afternoon nap in the dark afternoons.
With plans for a games night in we all opted for a short afternoon nap which resulted in most of us sleeping through the night to the early hours of the next morning. We are obviously still adjusting to the time difference and the short daylight hours have not helped.
