    Day 4 Rest Day in Leavenworth, WA

    The small city of Leavenworth was originally settled by pioneers in search of furs, mining, and lumber. The railroad brought wealth and a sawmill. However, when the sawmill closed and the railroad was rerouted, the city fell on hard times. In the 1960's the whole town rallied behind the idea of creating a Bavarian style tourist town. The buildings, restaurants, and businesses reflect that theme and attract large numbers of tourists. We had a delightful day exploring the city.Read more
