  • Tungurahua

    2 dicembre 2019, Ecuador ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

We did a two days hike to the Tungurahua Volcano. It's an active Volcano with 5.023m. The first day we went to the Refugio which is located at 3.800m. The Refugio didn't had any electricity so it was a very cold night but with playing UNO and drinking Aguardiente we warmed ourselves a little bit. The next day we got up at 4 am and started the tour up to tue Volcano during the night with flashlights. We saw an amazing sunrise and had stunning views the more up we came. Its very steep and difficult to walk on the volcanic ground. After 4.700 I had to turn as it felt a bit too dangerous for me. Anyway it was an amazing adventure again.Leggi altro

Came from Mancora by a very comfortable nightbus after 10 hours to Trujillo. Next to it there is Huanchaco where we stayed. A little Surf town next to the beach. We visited both cities and also Chan Chan. This was in 1300 the biggest city of Sout America from the Chimu with at his peak between 60.000 to 100.000 people living there. The Inkan military couldn't take it so they moved a river that ran through the city and basically dried them out and the Inkas could take the city.Leggi altro

The lodge was quite comfortable and the food was good once you get used to all the animals and noises around you.

After dinner we went to a boat tour to explore the rivers. We fed monkeys, saw pink and grey dolphins and when the night with the sunset came we found a baby caiman. Also after the sunset the attack of the mosquitos started.
