Day 23 - Bourke to Lightning Ridge

This morning was a little different to normal. Not cold but overcast and a little windy.

Another trip to a local bakery to start the day. This one was pretty good. One of the attached photos, displayed in the bakery, shows a great life message.

The condition of local roads has been a topic of discussion previously, but today was, let’s just say different. Narrow in places, roller coaster like and full of pot holes and road kill. I was sure we were nearly air born once or twice.

Just over 3 hours in the saddle was one or our
Longer days to date. It was also one of the most expensive. The head wind was quite diabolical at times, pushing the fuel consumption over the top.

We arrived at lightning Ridge just after lunchtime and immediately we could tell it had way more to offer Grey Nomads than Bourke.

We’re staying at the Big 4 park a few kms from the centre of town. It’s big, very popular and has fantastic amenities. You know life has changed when you get excited about the shitter and shower from town to town.

A quick visit to town for more supplies then back to the park to relax and prepare dinner.

Another night of Kahoot, chatting, eating and reflecting on the day.

Tonight however revealed a side of Peter the ladies were not happy with. He has been accused of betraying trust bestowed on him with various secrets. A judicial court was formed and found him guilty of said accusations.

He is required to fulfil certain community tasks to redeem his status amongst the group.

Pretty sure we were the last ones awake in the park as it approached the requested witching hour of 9pm.

I think we are definitely at the lower end of the Grey Nomad spectrum.
