• Day 37 - Kinka Beach (Yeppoon)

    August 31 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

By the time I surfaced it was a little overcast, so our track record of perfect mornings was shattered somewhat

The doggo patrol however were up early and over to the beach and from all accounts Ruby, Mace, Peppa and Stevie had a ball.

But of course running amok at the beach has an after affect on them. Let’s say they were very quiet for the remainder of the day.

Graham had his “Uncle Dave” come visit us. In fact he arrived with his van so stayed for the night. Whilst not blood related Uncle Dave is one of those very close family friends that earns the respect of that relationship.

More shopping required so off to Yeppoon we went, which was about a 15 minute journey. This also included a visit to Bunnings for various items.

As has become customary, afternoons of town visits of 3 o 4 days can sometimes be somewhat lazy. It started this way but the call to arms (a beer in the gazebo over looking the pool) was ordered.

Unbeknown to me when the girls were doing the shopping Gail bumped into a friend from Perth. As he was staying in another caravan park, Gail invited him over to our park for a drink.

I’m sitting in the Gazebo with the lads (including Uncle Dave) and I hear Gail behind me. Someone gives me a wet Willy, whom I assume to be Anne, so just continued on. I’m told to turn around and to my absolute surprise it’s Pieter Bergshoeff.

So here we are, at this random geographical location on the other side of the country at an exact stage in the continuum of time and we bump into someone we know. The scary part is, the last time we bumped into each other was under the same circumstance on a van trip down south in WA last year.

Gail and Pieter were on the board of the WA Little Athletics Association for a number of years.

After reminiscing and comparing van stories Pieter headed back to his van, out came the fresh meat and salad and we enjoyed yet another wonderful BBQ dinner.
