Day 41 - Agnes Water
September 4 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C
Ditto with a difference. The bird life first thing in the morning here is awesome. The first video portrays this.
Last night Karen booked us all in for a 9am yoga class which was at the second site operated by the same people. It was 900 metres away if walking or 2 or 3 kms by road.
The doggos weren’t allowed but they could remain in the car so whilst Gail and I walked, the others drove.
Now, I use the term walk very loosely. The uphill climb was somewhat more than we expected. Whilst the length of this goat track was about 900 metres it rose about 100m vertically.
Although we arrived huffing and puffing and legs screaming “no more”, the views from this upper part of the property soon eased the pain.
There were ten people for yoga, 7 of us and 3 others. I’ve never been a flexible person so I can’t comprehend some of the positions these yoga teachers expect of you. Playing Twister in my youth doesn’t seemed to have prepared me for this. The girls did pretty well though.
I thought my legs were screaming after the ascent……..not sure about Gail but mine were now on fire. Actually it wasn’t just my legs.
My foolish desire for a little more pain saw me return via the same route. I chose a light jog down the goat track while Gail hitched a ride. This somehow activated the mojo that’s been dormant for the past couple of years that I haven’t been on my bike. I’m hoping it has been “shocked” back into action.
After a brief cool down I headed to the showers. I thought it very strange Anne was following me in until I realised I was entering the ladies. She thought I was taking the piss. The thing is, I wasn’t.
To ensure you didn’t guess my embarrassment I have yet to tell you I had already used this exact same location 3 times previously. Once before bed last night, once very early this morning and once just prior to trying to enter for a fourth time.
The first 2 times I was occupying a stall in a seated position and for all intents and purposes the audible sounds coming from there were indistinguishable between a male and a female. However, not long before my thwarted 4th attempt I entered a stall for a standing deployment. The audible sounds from a standing deployment are very distinctly male centric. The poor lady in the other occupied stall must have been absolutely petrified.
I’m only thankful we did not actually cross paths. My embarrassment would have been unbearable.
After finding the right location and freshening up we all jumped in our chariots and headed into town for fuel for the chariots and also fuel for ourselves.
We went for a drive to a place called 1770 which is so named as it was the second Australian landing place of James Cook in the year 1770.
We found a dog beach that all 4 were very pleased about. They had an absolute ball as usual .
Dinner tonight was a repeat of Grahams home made pizza. Graham manufactured the dough out of his secret recipe once again. We all added our favourite toppings, (including 2 dessert pizzas) and Peter expertly lit and cooked said pizzas in the camp pizza oven that he had also expertly lit. He was even able to manipulate the pineapple, ham and cheese one into a map of Australia.
We then settled in to watch Carlton and Geelong. There was certainly a lot less animation during this game than the one the previous evening.
The football was not the only post pizza entertainment tonight. Someone advised us a reptile was casually relaxing near the sinks provided to wash your cooking and eating utensils which is also adjacent to the shower/toilet facilities.
Then of course the camp Steve Irwin wannabe puts the rest of us fellas to shame by moving in and actually picking the slimy thing up.
This has thrown somewhat of a spanner in the works for trying not to use our onboard ablution facility when in a place toilets exist. Not sure the girls are going to be too keen to visit these any more.
There was less investment in this game so at half time we all called it a night.Read more
