Around the Top of Europe

Another stunning day greeted us as we caught an early start from Berlevåg in order to make it around the last of the northern coast. We even had a beautiful sailing breeze from behind us. Unfortunately we spent the first few hours motoring, as we found quite a large amount of very suspicious looking water in the under seat compartment where our sewage tank is…that was a fun experience cleaning out while the boat was rocking and rolling all over the place!
Finally though, we got the main up and had a beautiful sailing across the mouth of Tanafjorden, feeling grateful once again on our luck with the weather as a beautiful, relatively calm day still produced quite some waves in that area.
Becalmed a couple of hours later, but again we were just happy to have beautiful weather! Finally though, we got to pass the most northerly point in Europe connected to the mainland! (Nordkapp is a lie, go look at the map…). That was pretty special, so we celebrated with a Cuban cigar that came with the yacht and some rum.
After quite a long day we found a beautiful anchorage in Skjøtningberg to soak up the last of the golden sun. Again, completely alone!Read more
