Taxi delivered me to the hotel within 10 minutes. I checked in, paid local tax, and took the lift to the 3rd floor. Room 316 is a twin room with a balcony overlooking the modest swimming pool. I have a sea view between the adjacent buildings. Its quite close to the beach. I unpacked and changed into shorts and T-shirt. I went in search of a hairdryer and was successful. I also discovered there are local 'little' shops 15 minutes walk away. I had planned to go for a walk but I am so tired I postponed it until tomorrow. Instead, I went in search of a gin and tonic. This proved quite beyond the barman, so he went to fetch reinforcements. We managed. Dinner was at 19.30. I went down at 20.00. A buffet affair largely with assorted salad looking very tired. Potato puree, some sort of dried up fish fillet, assorted sausage. I cobbled together a selection. Half way through my meal, the room was overwhelmed with smoke. I thought we were all on fire......turned out to be the chef busy cooking 'bifstek' on a griddle at about 2000centigrade. Eventually, someone opened an outer door, and people began to appear through the fog. Needless to say, we all now smell of cooking oil! I was offered a glass of white wine. Drinks are free with dinner
. I suspect the only way to relieve themselves of this wine is to give it away. I couldn't drink it. I decided to attempt the chips...........wrong move. They were cold. In desperation, I approach the dessert counter. I pounced on a pear, had a spoonful of chocolate mousse and a sort of soggy sponge affair. The mousse was the best part of my meal. As I left, I asked if I could get a coffee. I was directed to the bar and was pleasantly surprised. Very nice latte.
I am now resting, watching Spanish News Channel, trying to decipher what they are on about. Thing is, I don't know if it's Spanish or Catalan🤣
