Awake in the night with raging cramp! Finally asleep again. Woke at 08.00. Showered and dressed, set off to plunge into the delights of breakfast. Many more people than at dinner last night. May be a message there......
As long as the 'cooked' items were avoided, they all looked exhausted, breakfast was OK.
Fresh fruit and yoghurt, toast and 'spanish marmalade' plus a couple of mini croissants. I attempted the hot chocolate from the suspect machine. It dispensed said beverage everywhere except in the cup! It was far too sweet to drink anyway. I met a very nice lady who wanted to clean my room, so I let her🙂. I did not let her mop the floor. Not necessary.
Set off to explore. Overcast this morning but pretty warm. I walked to Coma Ruga centre, where I wasted at least half an hour watching 4 retired gents playing petanque on the beach. Very friendly we didn't understand each other mostly but enjoyed a lively conversation nevertheless........no idea!
Walked right along to the end of the Promenade and then meandered back. Tangled with very complicated cash machine ably assisted by a Senora who spoke no English but had adopted our habit of shouting at foreigners. We got there in the end. I have now collapsed in a beach bar where I am having beer, olives, and patatas bravas for lunch. It is getting windy, but I am enjoying the rest!
Continued my walk and came to SSSI adjacent to the beach. It's a wetland site where Kentish Plovers breed. There are masses of butterflies and dragonflies.very peaceful. Suddenly, I came to a National Memorial, picture attached. There is an explanation of the origin of the building. Reproduction of Picasso's work is stunning.
I am half way back to where I started, having a sit down. Much needed.
Went back to the hotel, a change of shorts and top and shoes. Set off to find a supermarket. I went past it twice and then saw 2 people go in. Very curious places in Spain. They are seldom easy to find and often look closed. I purchased a salad, yoghurts, and water. On the way back I purchased a pair of beach shoes. My feet are in heaven!! I also sat in another bar on the beach and had a sundowner sitting in the last of the sun.
My salad and yoghurts are in the hotel fridge until tomorrow. I decided to give dinner another chance. Same as last night but a huge pot of spaghetti and the chef cooking sardines on the griddle. Not quite as much smoke about, so I had 4 sardines and some dessert. Bothered the staff for a cup of coffee and called it a day. I have enjoyed today, and the weatherman is threatening 31 degrees tomorrow and Sunday. I think I might buy a beach seat for tomorrow. It's a sawn off camping chair.
