    Trip Mainz - Dunkirk

    March 31, 2023 in France ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

As usual we thought we where organized but it ended up being hectic anyway.

    Examples?

    - I started the motor and we realized the documents where still in the house.

    - Aisha saying “I have headache” like 1 hour from the start of the trip. And by “headache” she means “ I have to poop”. The solution for that you can see in one of the fotos.. we got the potty out in the parking slot 🤣

Contrary to my negative predictions we got the ferry in time!

The kids had great fun in the ferry. Imran less as the waves where huge.

    London

    March 31, 2023 in England ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

The arrival in London was different the we thought and planende as unfortunately while we were traveling Boodi discovered to be COVID-19 + .

Like in Barbados we separated from each other. Boodi in the lower levels of the house and we in the upper levels. Greetings and talking from the window or from the phone 😞.

Let’s hope she becomes negative soon!

The Canal, Hackney Farm and Solomons

    April 1, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

Our First of April started with a window-chat with Boodi and was followed by a beautiful walk to the canal.
Imran nostalgically helped a boater pull their boat into the lock. ⭐️Cue nostalgic music ⭐️.

Beautiful reunion with the Solomons happened at Hackney city farm. After some good food there, we admired very happy piglets (didn’t know they jump around and chase one another!).

Playground-break for the kids ended up in an unexpected meeting with a friend from Rome, whose kid that was playing with Emma was actually helped being delivered from my mum. ⭐️crazy coincidence here⭐️.

Some very special French treats from Columbia Road and some delicious coffee woke up our spirits at Solomons. Good beer, David Foster Wallace and his suggested “The New Fowlers” followed. ⭐️thank you Sol for these inspiring Texts⭐️.

Our first of April 2023 ended with laughter and philosophical thoughts about the definition “SNOOT”, some unbelievably good sourdough kimchi pizza ⭐️oh dear and some mac and cheese calzone that I didn’t want to mention as my Italian heart turned upside down⭐️, happy kids, happy adults.

The last foto of this day: Aisha fast asleep as soon as we left our friends’ house!

    Science Museum and Traditional Pub-night

    April 2, 2023 in England ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Visiting London with 2 kids means waking up early and to be precise it’s not birds singing that we hear, but usually screaming, crying and jumping noises… around 5:30-6:30 ⭐️yuppie yeah ⭐️.

Picnic organized and up we went for that what ended up being a whole day in the science museum. And I'm not joking here, as you can probably see in the photos that it was a great day!

The fun-moment of the day: Imran asked Emma to call the lift and Aisha responded: "LIIIIIIFT!".
⭐️oh yes, she literally called it!⭐️.

As you say here: knackered but happy kids went to bed and….
Imran and I could actually enjoy the first pint of the trip in the pub around the corner at the sound of fantastic traditional music.

    DLR, Cable-Car and River Bus

    April 3, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

    What a wonderful day!

Frosty but sunny London tempted us to be tourists all day making the most of unique public transport options the city has to offer.

Starting with the DLR which the girls really believed they where driving, as there is no driver and you can sit/stay in the front cabin looking directly onto the railway.
⭐️To me it felt a little bit like a roller coaster ⭐️.
Funny moment here when Emma absolutely convinced described the Thames as “the Rhein” to her sister.

We then continued, (as you can see in the little 2. video), with the unique cable-car that with its cabins floating over the Thames offering the best view of this town!
And this is considered public transport! Great!

A stroll in Greenwich and then up on the Uber-Boat towards the Royal Observatory. Another novel experience for us as it was our first time on a river bus in London! ⭐️amazing⭐️.

The highlight for Aisha here was the picturesque “Kassurell” and the Victorian dress in the museum they could try on and play with.
And Greenwich is also the place where Aisha managed to (nearly) get lost twice and was found by “Paw-Patrol-Emma” on the fast scooter ⭐️despite the joke I’m making of it, it was quite scary⭐️.

    What a beautiful day!

End of Quarantine, Playgrouds and Puppet

    April 4, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

Finally Pru tested negative and we could meet in person, the girls couldn’t wait and before even talking about some precautions they stormed her room🤩.

This sunny day we started lending books from the library, playing in the so-loved Highbury playground that has one of the most spectacular slide I know. Also in our memory because of a memorable ⭐️in a negative way⭐️ event that happened last year there: I was sliding down with Aisha in my arms and the child before us shat all over the slide. And we both basically cleaned this child’s shit with our cloths off ! ⭐️disgust ⭐️. This dark experience ended up in Aisha having Rotavirus and spending 3 days vomiting and also one night in hospital for intravenous infusion cause of dehydration.
    ⭐️I’m still traumatized⭐️.
    Luckily no dramas this time!

The girls went to Puppet-Theatre with Imran and I went for probably the first time since I have children alone with my book for lunch! What a strange feeling though eating alone and reading uninterrupted a few pages ⭐️still amazed⭐️.

More Playground fun for the girls, reading with Boodi and then some good veggie/asian/chilli-crunchy food at home with Joe for us.

    Wells Next the Sea

    April 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

After a great power-breakfast at one of Imran and my favorite places (Breakfast Club) we drove to Wells-Next-the Sea. After 5 days of London and plenty of touristic sight seeing it felt like the right moment for some country and some MARE!

We could not resist to do a “charity-shop-stop” on the way and a few books and things later we arrived to Pru’s Cottage.

⭐️All incredibly happy to be here again!⭐️

First thing I had to do was put the sourdough - dough (that nicely grew in the car on the way here) in the oven. ⭐️A very weird shaped bred came out of it😆… but good!

    Easter, sun and beach

    April 6, 2023 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Getting ready for Easter in Wells we baked cookies, colored eggs, cooked and drunk
    beer 🍺.

One accident nearly ruined the chilled atmosphere: Aisha brutally fell from her scooter and literally smashed her tiny face on the very stony floor just while i was filming her🙈.
A dramatic scene with me running with her screaming in my arms and a bleeding face followed. Two (nearly-uni-)-corns , a big starlike strep-Stich and a mild concussion after we calmed down.
⭐️big shock and shame on us letting them drive without a helmet! Lesson learned here!⭐️

Propper Tee-Time at Mimi’s house Saturday before Easter made everyone happy and our belly’s expand!

Easter in Wells Next-the-sea has been sunny and warm like last year! Completely unexpected and different then forecasted the sun was bright warmed and cheered us up all day long.

After finding all the surprises the “Osterhase” left this year (Harry Potter 1. special edition, bred-knifes (for Boodi) and many other treasures), we enjoyed the day on the beach.
