A very easy day of only 17 miles. Stanger Vineyards is on the East side of 101. Very nice older couple are the owners. The gates only opened on one side and I almost clipped the awning. Saw it, stopped and eased off, taking a little gate paint and a smallish dent in the awning cover. Waited for the owner to come down and disable/move the other side so we could get in. Great site..They used to have a lot more people camping here, but have moved to Harvest Host (nicer people) and fewer campers (county only allows 3 per night)..on top of a hill with very good views of vineyards, rolling hills and oak trees. Got fans going and managed the heat of the day well. Deployed the awning (worked fine) and saw we might have done that sooner to let it dry out from all the rain. Set out the patio mat and chairs and had a restive, snoozy afternoon. Decided to got out to dinner in nearby Creston, a tiny ranching community, at a restaurant suggested by the Stanger owner: The Loading Chute. We both had very good prime rib, I had a DBA and Peg had a Sauvignon Blanc. Back to the camper to let Olive out and then off to an 8 pm tasting with the owners. Beautiful morning sunrise! Percolated coffee and bagels, cream cheese, capers, red onion and smoked salmon.Read more
