Dun Laoghaire Vol. Way Too Hot!

A field trip was in store for the three of us today! We all woke up kind of early so we could be ready for the bus around 10 am. After our short ride, we arrived at UCD where Dad showed Mom and I around campus. We got lunch after our tour. Then Mom and I said goodbye and caught the bus to the city center. We walked around before landing at our destination of the cat cafe. For 40 minutes, we just played with kittens which was incredible!! We got some fries and took the insanely hot bus home which wasted about 2 hours of our time. But by the time we made it home, we were hungry again. So we picked up a pizza and had a lovely dinner. Afterwards, I took a shower and my mother cut my hair. We finished the night with both Only Murders In The Building and Derry Girls.En savoir plus

Mom woke up extra early to meet her new running group while Dad and I stayed home. Eventually Dad went out running in the neighborhood and I went shopping for a bit. Dad met me for lunch by the sea where we also ran into Mom who was getting off the DART. We chatted for a while before walking around town. By the time we got home, it was about 2:40 and we all had a little mid-afternoon crash. We had some leftovers for dinner before settling down to watch Gladiator.En savoir plus

My parents were very productive this morning while I was still sleeping. By the time I woke up, Mom had returned from her morning walk with pastries and we all had a lovely breakfast. Once we were all ready, we headed to the Sunday Market for some goods. Dad split with Mom and I to work in the library. There also happened to be a record and cd sale there, and I bought a Lana Del Ray cd! (Ironic considering I’m part of the first generation with digital music.) We all ended up meeting at home and having some chill time before going to a pub for dinner. Walter’s is a new place for us and it was lovely! We came home and spent the last 2 hours just chilling on our own.En savoir plus

Today was probably my laziest day to date. I’m not sure I can say the same for my parents, as it was Dad’s first day of classes and Mom set up all of our travel plans. But we all started the day the same, Mom went out to get some food and Dad and I hung around for a bit. After breakfast, Dad got ready for his first day of teaching and headed out. I continued with my schoolwork and Mom did some research on Paris, etc. By about 2 o’clock after lunch, we realized we hadn’t completed any exercise. So we spent approximately 45 minutes doing Peloton classes. Dad then came home and Mom and I made an awesome dinner. At 7:30 Mom and I headed out to see “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” (which was great!) at the local theater. We’re now ending the night in bed, while I’m writing this post.En savoir plus

Since Dad left at the butt crack of dawn, Mom and I spent the morning on a walk and getting brunch. We got home by 11:30 and started working. We were both very productive and by the time Dad came home at 3, we had completed most of our tasks. I headed to the library for over an hour before my parents arrived. We planned on going swimming, but we decided it was too cold. So Dad headed home and Mom and I got ingredients for dinner. Once we got home, Mom took a shower before helping me out with cooking. We had a lovely dinner and are now finishing the day with another 2 episodes of Only Murders in the Building.En savoir plus

We all woke up nice and early so that we could catch the 9:25 DART to Greystones. Once there, we walked around for a bit and stopped for coffee + food. We walked down to the end of the beach and back (we grossly underestimated how far it was). Noon brought hunger so we stopped at a pub in town for lunch before taking the train back home. At the house, we got a surprise. Since there was a planned power outage, we had to jump our electric gate. I quick changed into my basketball gear and we spent the rest of the afternoon at the library. Mom and I took the bus to the school where I play and before I knew it, practice was over and we were heading home. We stopped to get dinner at Tesco and enjoyed a chill evening.En savoir plus

Moving Day!

We spent our morning packing up our Dun Laoghaire house (with a few dance parties along the way). Around noon, we called a taxi which took us and our stuff to Portobello. The first two hours at our new home were spent unpacking, and afterwards we all went out for linner. We had a great meal at a sweet Argentinian cafe and went back to the house for a bit. Mom and I went to get groceries at Lidl (which is a place we probably won't return), so that we could have some of our own food. Once we came home, we had some work time and I gave my science presentation to my parents. The day was finished by watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.En savoir plus

As you can tell by the title, today was extremely wet. But Mom and I didn’t let that stop us from going out. After a little electricity scare, the two of us headed to The National Museum of Ireland: Archeology. There we saw preserved human remains, weapons, and various other artifacts. We then went to an awesome bookstore before getting back home around 2:30. All of us proceeded to spend the next few hours lazing about. But honestly, what else are you supposed to do on rainy days?? By 7:30 we were getting hungry, so we went to Uno’s Pizza (not the chain) and had some lovely pies. Now we’re home and having a dance party before bed!En savoir plus

Doin’ Time!

The most interesting part of our day (named after a Sublime and then Lana Del Ray song) was going to Dublin’s biggest, most famous jail. We started our day slow, only because it was raining. Mom puzzled for a bit, Dad did some writing, and I tried a new mug muffin recipe (it was an utter disaster). We all completed some Peloton classes which made us feel good about ourselves. Once 2 o’clock rolled around, we headed out to a new part of town (for us) to find the jail. The tour was lovely and we were very interested in learning about the rich history of such a place. Afterwards, we went to the Galway Bay Brewery and got a bit to eat. When home, we chilled out and spent the last hour or so watching Derry Girls.En savoir plus

Our Fellow Americans!

Considering the fact that it was very rainy again today, having one of Dad’s old students and his wife spend time with us was very fun. Nate and Beth came over around 10 and stayed for coffee and pastries until noon. They left their bags with us while they explored the city. In the afternoon, Mom and I went to get some groceries. Dad wrote his third lecture and Zoomed with his friend Mitch. After that, we had some down time until Nate and Beth came back for their luggage. After they left, we had some more chill time and had a lovely dinner at 7. Mom and I watched Gilmore Girls while Dad wrote and now we’re headed to bed.En savoir plus

Here Comes The Sun!

Today was the first sunny day we’ve had in a while, so we all said “carpe diem” and spent plenty of time outside. Dad walked to campus since he had class today while Mom and I went out for a morning jog. After that, the two of us headed out to Temple Bar area to explore. We walked to the Christ Church Cathedral and the Dublin Castle before settling in at the Dublinia Historical Museum. That was interesting enough for us to stay for a while and we only left to get some lunch. After that we walked through some shops and went past St. Stephen’s Green to get home. Dad came home around 5 and decided to go running! I did some work and we all had dinner at 7. We’re ending the night by doing absolutely nothing!En savoir plus

Crazy Train!

The big part of our day was going to Dalkey! We all got there by—you guessed it—Dublin’s train system, the DART! But first, let’s start our day from the beginning. Dad headed out pretty early for his two classes this morning, so Mom and I missed seeing him. Mom got some breakfast from the market down the street and she went for a run. I stayed back and did some work, which is a great summary of how we spent our afternoon. All the while, Dad was at UCD. He had his first co-taught class today. After a pretty slow afternoon, we all met in Dalkey! I had a bracelet making class thing at 5:30 at the library. Afterwards, we went out for Indian. It was marvelous!! We’re now heading home on the DART, thoroughly exhausted.En savoir plus

Mom and I spent our morning at the Irish National Gallery! We saw the works of Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh, and many other beautiful art pieces. It was almost 1 o’clock by the time we got home, and Mom had a quick lunch before heading out to meet with an acquaintance and tour a nearby school. Dad and I worked diligently on our class work, although one of us was completing theirs and the other was creating some. Our afternoon was pretty quiet and evening came quickly. Mom and I took the tram for the first time to basketball practice—highly recommend. Time flew by and before we knew it, we were back home for dinner. We ate while watching Derry Girls and had a lovely evening. Mom edit: P won Player of the Week at b-ball tonight for being a selfless teammate!En savoir plus

As you can tell by the title, we heard some lovely music tonight at a local pub. But before that, we had a pretty eventful day. Mom got us donuts for breakfast this morning and Dad showed me his upcoming lecture. We all showered and did some work before Mom and I went out at quarter to 1. We did some walking around Temple Bar and bumped into the son of my dad’s colleague in a bookstore. Then we stopped for drinks and food in a few places. We headed home a few hours later, falafel in hand. After dad’s run, we all ate and had some down time before going out at 6:30. First we stopped in Lower Deck for drinks and then we moved on to Devitt’s. We had such a fun time and got home full and humming.En savoir plus

Today was quite the travel day! Our morning was filled with a quick breakfast and for Mom and I lots of last-minute packing. We double checked everything and said a heartfelt goodbye to Dad. The three of us left at 1, Dad to lunch with a colleague and the two of us to the airport. We walked to a Dublin Airport Bus stop but didn’t have much luck. So, we walked a few blocks down to a different stop and ironically saw our original stop’s bus go by. After approximately an hour and a half, we made it to the terminal. Security was easy peasy and we had a nice meal before boarding. Our flight took off before 6 and we had very smooth sailing until landing in Lisbon just past 8. We caught the Metro to our flat where we had a lovely chat with Dad’s fam and ate some pizza.En savoir plus

Today was a lovely day full of touring in Lisbon! We all woke up and had a light breakfast before heading to the Rossio train station to meet our lovely tour guide, Ricardo. We took taxis to the church/monastery and decided not to wait in the queue, but move to another line for a bakery. After having Portugal’s iconic mini custard cream pies, we went to the Botanical Gardens and explored for a while. From there, we walked to the coast to see the replica Golden Gate and a memorial statue for the famous Portuguese explorers. After a stop at another famous riverside monument, we took the Metro to the Time Out Market where we all had a late lunch. A few hours later we were back to Rossio Square, taking another train line home. Our evening was quiet and we had some charcuterie for dinner.En savoir plus

I thought today’s song for the day was fitting, considering it was sunny the entire time! We were out by 9:15 this morning to meet our Tuk tour drivers outside the Hard Rock Cafe. Unfortunately, Pat was sick and didn’t come along and Dan stayed behind so it was just the 6 of us. But we had a lovely time going through Lisbon, especially up the hills where we go great views. After our tour, we walked back to the airbnb to collect Dan for lunch. We ate couple blocks down from our flat. We then headed back home and chilled for a while before Ama, Papa, Mom and I went to get drinks at a local bar. We came back and only Mom and I went to pick up pizza across the street. Castles Crumbling - Taylor Swift

Our day today consisted of many castles and royalish places! We had a quick breakfast before our guide Paolo picked us up. He brought us to Sintra, an out of the way town about 50 mins away from Lisbon. We explored the shops for a bit and then walked to a magical land. The gardens looked like Rivendell, and were full of secret passages, ruins, and a palace. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and we had to leave 2 1/2 hours later. We had some yummy lunch treats and met Paolo who took us to another magical castle. Half of us walked up to the palace while the others took the shuttle. After a ticket mishap, we made it on the premises and adventured for a while. That was the end of our tour, and we arrived home to chill. We went out to dinner at 7 and are now watching the portuguese football game at the restaurant.En savoir plus

Today was a day for us all to go on our own adventures. Mom and I went out to the city center, close to the Hard Rock Cafe where we were a few days ago. We explored the shops nearby and just walked around for a while. Google Mops led us to a nonexistent store which was pretty funny, and we headed back towards our flat for lunch. After a great meal, we met Ama + Papa at the airbnb and everyone else came home within 15 minutes. We all rested for a while and then went out for dinner at 7. Our meals were so unique and delicious and we had a lovely time! We’re all ready for bed with our flights in the morning!En savoir plus

Paris - The Chainsmokers

Today was exhausting, though not in a bad way. Everyone but Mom and I were up early to catch an 11 o’clock flight. The family left by 8, so the two of us packed up on our own and headed to the airport afterwards. We got through security easily and had time to roam for a bit. After lunch, we waited for our gate to be called. Eventually it was and we boarded without any delays. The flight was quick + easy, but we lost an hour coming to France. By the time the metro delivered us near our flat, it was almost 6:30. We dropped our bags and had a lovely dinner nearby, then took the train to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle! We came back to our neighborhood for dessert and have been chilling in our flat.En savoir plus

The Louvre - Lorde

Mom and I slept in this morning and had a late breakfast of pain au chocolat. From the bakery we went to the Louvre and explored the museum. (The Mona Lisa was … small.) Around 1 we went home and had some lunch. Afterwards, we took the metro to the Notre Dame area and went to Shakespeare & Co. bookstore. I got a book + a tote, and later ice cream nearby. Many circles of the area later, we hopped back on the Metro to the Arc de Triomphe and took many photos. We got home and chilled for a while, then went out to dinner nearby. Mom and I finally made it back to Dublin tonight! We had to be out of our flat by 10, so we packed and left for a cafe. We got croissants and drinks in two different places to waste time before our 5 o’clock flight. By noon we were ready to leave, so we hopped on the Metro to the airport. An hour and a few wrong turns later, we went through border control and security. The rest of our afternoon was spent lazing about near our gate. Our flight was easy, and we were back to Ireland by 6:15. (Paris is 1 hour ahead, so it took 2 hours 15.) After an hour, the bus brought us home and we got to say hi to Dad! We watched the NZL v ITA rugby game and finished the night with the Derry Girls finale!En savoir plus

Mom and I had a fitting first day back in Ireland as it rained all morning! The two of us read and played brain teasers while Dad worked on a paper and polished up his lecture for Monday. We unpacked before heading towards the city center to get Dad new running shoes. (Yesterday he signed up for a half marathon in Tralee — crazy man.) Afterwards, we stopped for an early dinner at Five Guys, before getting drinks at a neighborhood pub. There, we watched the Tottenham vs Liverpool game and Mom had a delicious soup. We then came home and watched the Scotland vs Romania rugby game before going to bed.En savoir plus

I woke up late this morning to an empty house as my parents had already gone out for baked goods. When they came back, we all sat around eating and playing NYT games. Dad went on a ten mile run and Mom and I went grocery shopping. We met at home for lunch then went to the Irish sweater store to pick something up for dad. On the way home we picked up a few necessities and some artisan tea + coffee. Our afternoon was pretty chill and it bled into evening quickly and quietly. We had chicken with potatoes and green beans for dinner, then watched Only Murders In The Building.En savoir plus

I’m really having to get creative with these song titles. Today’s song is relevant because last night was our third night being back to Dublin. Anyway, we all had a chill day that began with NYT games (we’re so cool). After breakfast, Dad biked to UCD while Mom and I did some work. We had lunch and made scones to busy ourselves since it was cold out. Eventually we went out towards Temple Bar to get flowers, wine, and other random items. Although it was cool, the fresh air was lovely. Dad biked back home and we all worked/chilled until dinner. Mom and I then watched Elementals (yes, a pixar movie) while Dad did his readings for tomorrow.En savoir plus
