  • Rome - Day 3

    March 17, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

The sites in Rome are unimaginable. So few words to describe the majesty and stubborn resolve of 2000 year old structures in a city determined to honor and preserve them, at all cost.

  • Last Day in Rome

    March 18, 2022 in Vatican City ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

We took a tour and covered the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica. It was a lot to cover but we did it with the help of a “so-so” guide. In the end we enjoyed the views, a great panini and gelato that was amazing!! We loved it all and wish we had more time! Oh, yea! We will be back for two days on the back end.Read more

  • France - Day 1

    March 19, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Arrived in France. Jet lag is real. Even after a week. Lovely hotel. A burger and fries at the Cafe de Paris. A sweet visitor Who made me think of Kobe Jack and great people watching on Promenade Des Anglais. A short walk and room service dinner. Family calls made for a very late night. Good thing we can sleep in.Read more

  • Nice in Nice, France

    March 20, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

We slept in until 11:45 am! Much needed after a very long night. Slow moving but excited to see bacon sausage and eggs. Coffee is ✨. Hit the streets and enjoying the sites. Sunday is a slower day I imagine as the shops are closed. Window shopping is fun. I think I found our apartment. 😉.Read more

  • Fabulous Dinner and Jazz in Nice

    March 20, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

We were supposed to have a food tour today but our guide fell ill. She was kind enough to give us recommendations for appertivo and dinner. Although we are both directionally challenged, we found the spots and then some! And then, after dinner we heard music from the street. Shapko is the spot. Tenor sax, drums and keyboard. Great jazz! What a perfect nightcap.Read more

  • More Nice

    March 21, 2022 in France ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

More exploring and lunch at the famous Le Plongeior. It was a little windy but the sun and the view made up for it. Delicious food and excellent service. Great coffee, pastries and gelato everywhere. We ended the night with snacks overlooking the Mediterranean, then a burger for me and pizza for Ken. A little French television and done for the day. We love you, NIce.Read more

  • Eze, France

    March 22, 2022 in France ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

We are mesmerized by the timeless beauty of Eze, France. We traveled far up into the mountainside via a Mercedes van. Then we walked the rest of the way, passing by shops carved out of the mountainside. There’s nothing we’ve seen in the Americas that can compare to this simple beauty. Far beyond what the eyes can see from below is a world of beauty that is unparalleled. We are moved beyond words.Read more

  • Monaco

    March 22, 2022 in Monaco ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Wow is the word that comes to mid when I describe Monaco. Luxury and mystique come together in this principality that is smaller than New York’s Central Park. In a playground for billionaires we found the cathedral where Princess Grace was married and shops that were absolutely over the top. Every brand in luxury fashion has a presence on the streets of Monaco. Hardly anything for sale less than 1,000 euros.Read more

  • We’re Here — Barcelona

    March 23, 2022 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

Another airport misadventure finding our driver at the airport but he found us and was very nice. Our first impression of the city: old and new. Some iconic architecture among modern glass buildings. The city is alive and the luxury brands take center stage. Our hotel is a little small so we’ll see. We ventured out on the streets of Barcelona with a long walk to Ciudad Condal. It reputedly serves the best tapas in Spain. We had cabreaos style eggs, hot green peppers, fried laminated artichokes, tomato bread and fish. Thanks to Dawn Booker for the recommendation! The young people at the table next to us remind us of the the luxury of youth and our girls. Viva Espana!Read more

  • Sintra and Cascais

    March 31, 2022 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

We thought we were getting a tour of the two historical regions outside of Lisbon. Turns out we got a ride — a nice ride in a shiny BMW — but only a ride. If the young driver knew anything of the history of the region where he grew up, he wasn’t telling us. The steep switchbacks around Sintra and the stunning seascapes of Cascais told wordless stories of God’s creation at the western-most point of Europe.Read more

  • Florence, Italy - One Day Early

    April 1, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

We decided to do something radical. After fulfilling our time in Lisbon, we decided to take an early flight to Florence. Our goal was to have the extra time we needed in this special city. Long story, short: we changed our flights ( a story in and of itself), woke up at 3:15 AM to catch a 7:00 AM flight. Arriving in Florence before noon, we had a full day we were not expecting. We also ended up spending one night in a room with the most incredible view. Truly a gift from God!Read more
