El Chalten

Arrived in the tiny tourist town of El Chalten on Monday morning and having repacked bikes into cardboard boxes for the bus journey, first job was to rebuild the bikes and pack bags onto the bike for the first time … the bikes were built quickly but a problem quickly became obvious… the last minute packing in UK had meant that we brought wayyy too much with us and we literally couldnt cycle the bikes 😅. We limped to a campsite, and after quite some discussion with locals discovered that there is a post office, so after scouring recycling bins for cardboard boxes, and some clothes slimming we sent 12kg (serious overpacking I know!) ahead to bariloche, where we should be in around a month. Following this we put up the tent for the first time and cooked our first camping meal. Admittedly the latter was a struggle as we are complete novices to this so had only bought a tiny pan and no utensils so had borrow almost everything required to cook (pan, spoons, etc).
