On our way to Jared’s we stopped at a place called Winton to do the Age of Dinosaurs tour. The tour went for four hours and we did three different tours.

Our first tour, was a Fossil Laboratory, which is where they store dinosaur fossils in plaster until they are ready to be cleaned. They find fossils in black soil, because the ground cracks and the dirt on top falls down, and it repeats that until the fossils are pushed up to the surface. We also got to see people working on fossils which was pretty cool. They had one fossil of a sauropod that they were cleaning up, so far they have been working on it for 6 years.

Next stop was Dinosaur Canyon, we caught a mini train down to the stampede room. The stampede room had dinosaur footprints all in it. They found the footprints down at a river so they had to move it all up to where it is now, it took them three years and there was only three girls moving it, and apparently it was like a big puzzle. There were Crocodile, Lungfish and Saropod footprints.

The last tour we did was the collection room. The collection room is where they have all their one of one dinosaur bones. They also had two different dinosaurs that they dug up together, which is apparently a bit weird, there story is that they got stuck in the mud and died there.

    I had lots of fun.
