  • Day 3

    Oklahoma to Kansas

    June 3, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

In Tulsa we saw a giant statue of a driller. He was so big that sitting on his shoe and looking up was scary! He was 76 feet tall! His hand was on an oil derrick. After we saw him, we drove to Wichita, KS. We had a picnic and walked around a beautiful park. We saw The Keeper of the Plains. There was also an Indian cultural center with a museum and gift shop. We saw flags from all of the different Indian tribes. The gift shop had many Indian items for sale made by Indians. They had a bow and arrow and instruments. I bought some earrings made by the Indian artists. They are blue with a black swirl and they are beautiful. In the park there were really cool rocks that we could climb on and we played American Ninja Warrior. The big statue was above us and it looked like an Indian. There was tribal music playing and cool things to learn about the Indians. The museum showed how Indians dressed. After that we drove to Dodge City, KS and had dinner in a train car. It was really fun. Our hotel had a swimming pool so we went swimming. It was a great day!Read more

Today we went to an arts and crafts festival in Dodge City, Kansas. There was a lot of stuff you could buy, I bought a magnetic piece of jewelry that can become a necklace, anklet, or bracelet. I also bought a butterfly magnet. Then we went to the Boot Hill Museum that was also in Dodge City. It showed us what it was like in the Wild Wild West. There were little shops and an old jail. Some of the shops were saloons, which are like bars, that people used to go to. There was also a school and a church. After we saw the town, we watched a gunfight but they used blanks. It was showing what would happen back then when people got in fights. Next we drove to Colorado. We are going to do lots here so I will write more later!Read more

We went to the arcade in Manitou Springs which was a lot of fun! With tickets I won, I got candy. After we left there, we drove to the top of Pike's Peak. It was very cold and there was still lots of snow at the top! There was a shop up there with the world's best donuts and they were so good! There were beautiful views and daddy let me go near the edge! Adrian didn't like the snow or the cold so he snuggled with mommy. After we went down, we went to a beautiful place called Garden of the Gods. We climbed lots of rocks and watched the sunset. There were lots of big rocks to climb and we all climbed very high. Then I decided to climb as fast as I could and I made it to the top first! When we got to the top we took a trail down that was 4 miles long. There was on and off rain while we were going down. When we finally got down, we were so exhausted! We had a very late lunch and then we went to the cliff dwellings. It showed houses that the Indians had made by carving into the rocks. Tamra, Charlotte, and Savannah met us there. I got some beautiful earrings at the gift shop. Then we went to Garden of the Gods again because Adrian and I loved it so much. The rocks we went on today were smaller and much easier to climb than yesterday. Then we went on our way to Denver.Read more

    Dinosaurs!

    June 9, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

First we went to Dinosaur National Monument where we saw a big rock that had bones in it with a building built around it. They were dinosaur bones! We got to touch some of the bones and guess what kind of bones they were. Then we went to Fantasy Canyon. It was in the middle of nowhere and we were the only people there. We thought we would be able to find lunch on the way but there was nowhere to eat so we got all of the snacks out of our car and had a picnic by a big oil tank so we would have some shade. Then we climbed the sandstone rocks. There was a lot of stuff to climb. Some of the rocks were cracking so we couldn't step on it. We went and ate mexican food for dinner. Then we found Moonshine Arch. It was really hard to get to, we had to go off-road and we even got stuck once. I loved the arches. They were really cool. We were the only people there which was neat. The next day we went to a dinosaur museum. We learned so much here like about the different periods and what animals lived then. We learned about the jurassic and the cretaceous. There were lots of different dinosaur fossils from those periods. There were also sculptures of different extinct animals and dinosaurs. Then we went to the dinosaur gardens where we learned about different dinosaurs. Then we drove to Jackson, Wyoming.Read more
