Part of the town was flooded to make Lake Dunstan when the Clyde Dam was opened. Lots of locals were moved and the town centre was demolished to prevent debris going into the turbines. Before this all happened locals got together and moved some of the old buildings to higher ground. Two bridges are under the lake -one where the photos were taken and another complete with a car on it roughly where we're staying. The weather is very warm, even the wind, and there hasn't been much rain. Had a soak in their lovely spa pools this afternoon. Will use Lowburn as a base for the next three days. Karins tailbone is slowly healing - still hope to do the Dunstan trail together next week.Read more
