Trailer Tetris. The hardest tightest spot we had to get in. Luckily the car across the street was not there or else we couldn't have made it. There is a huge stump where the front door is so we can only use the back door.
I had to get in the front door, Eddie had to back up to where the leveling blocks were set up, then I had to open the slides so that I could come out the back door. Because we can't open the front door at all. And you can't get to the back of the trailer without the front slide open.
Even though I put in 30 foot trailer with 2 slideouts, 12 feet wide.
The back slide goes over the cement picnic table. And the front door is against bushes and a hug stump.
I really like the Delorme Atlases. They give all the roads. They cost a little, but we used them a lot.

    Living Tree. Salmonberries. ....

We drove up the mountain looking for the Douglas Fir in Queets, one off a handful of megatrees in North America . But the signage was non-existent and we couldn't find it. The road we walked down was lined in salmon berries on both sides. Great view so high up.

Took a walk on the foggy beach at Kalaloch

The biggest difference between our forests and the rainforest is the amount of moss which is everywhere and also the size of the trees because they're huge and lots of big ferns.
We tried going to the walls of Moses Trail but spent half an hour waiting for construction and then got further down and it was a 2-hour wait because parking was full and we thought we might not be able to turn around our 52-ft rig so lots of people turned around and left including us. We got to see lots of rainforest without being in the tourist trap.Meer informatie

I chose this campground just to be able to harvest oysters. It was a cool experience. Some were huge.

    Blown tires
And we put on brand new higher rated tires right before we left on this trip.
We thought Washington wouldn't be too hot in July, but 102 was the high today.

Very nice park, very hot during the day at this time of year, but cooled down for sleeping. Great day use area with 100 foot rocks by the river. Lovely bike path that we didn't have time to use due to tire blowout.
I had hoped to stop at Tacoma glass museum, but we had an 11 hour day from leaving one site to pulling in to the next site.

Unless you want to drive the Highway to the Sun (which I definitely did not), or spend days hiking, it's not worth coming here, because the drive is really long.Meer informatie

Very quiet small campground 2 miles off Rt 90. We decided that 2 months on the road was enough because there are things that we need to do. So we will not be stopping at the Badlands. Wind Cave, etc on the way home. We are simply taking the major roads home, driving about 600 miles a day.
One of the things I enjoyed was meeting all the people and seeing the different lives they lead. Our first priority has always been to keep our water tank full at every chance we can. We only had one day of searching for water. We did find it at a water utility company where you could fill, and dump, for $10.

This is a great place to stay to hike trails. Unfortunately, we didn't have time, so none of these photos are mine..I shared them to show the nice trails. It was humid so the AC was nice to have.
We don't like road noise, we like quiet and streams and birds, so we are willing to drive a few miles to get away from highways. We usually look for shade and reasonable prices, like National Parks, State Parks, Country Parks. Dispersed (boondocking), etc.Meer informatie

Very large, nice campground with lots of water sites. Lots of trees and space. Some have electric if you want it. We had no rain for 2 months ( except one night while we slept) until our next to last day. It was torrential downpours and lightening all day. We are thankful we had beautiful weather the entire trip and got to see the things we were looking forward to seeing. Very slow driving all day. But at least 2 months of bugs and dust got mostly washed off.
I used this book (Corps of Engineers Camping) to find this campground. Since it was federal, we could use Eddie's Senior Pass to get half off the campsite reservation. The site was $12.50 there is a dump and water fill up. There was on one site for Ohio in this book, but some states had multiple pages. That is how we got so many cheap sites on our trip. The senior pass gives a 50% discount on camp sites and free entrance to all the national parks. If you can't get a senior pass ( you aren't old enough) get an America the Beautiful pass if you are going to be traveling. It's really worth the cost.
I use various apps such as recreation.gov, Reserve America , GasBuddy, and my favorite freecampsites.net . Others are Campendium, Hipcamp, I-overlander, and my groups on Facebook. We also use state maps, US map, and GPS.
