Hello from Auckland New Zealand. Known as the City of Sails. We are here for 3 days. Today’s high is 78 but very very windy.
Per Wikipedia: Auckland spoken by the Māori: Tāmaki Makaurau) is a large metropolitan city in the North Island of New Zealand. It has an urban population of about 1,478,800 (June 2023). It is located in the greater Auckland Region, the area governed by Auckland Council, which includes outlying rural areas and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf, and which has a total population of 1,739,300 as of June 2023. It is the most populous city of New Zealand and the fifth largest city in Oceania.
We had breakfast on the balcony and watched our sail into the city.
Today we took the ferry over to Waiheke Island and had an all day private excursion sampling wines and eating New Zealand food while exploring the island. Our first stop was Mudbrick Winery. Then on to Te Moto followed by The Batch where we had lunch which was delicious. Myron had Waygu beef and Diana had Mac and cheese with short ribs. Our final stop was Casita Miro which was wine with food pairings. We are wined out so we caught the 4:30 ferry back to Auckland and decided to spend the evening in our cabin watching a movie.
