    August 29-30

    August 30, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

Tuesday we drove to Lake Minatare where we climbed to the top of the lighthouse and checked out the campgrounds. http://outdoornebraska.gov/lakeminatare/ Then we strolled around downtown Gering and shared a cabbage burger at the bakery. Cabbage burgers are popular around here and are pretty tasty. We ended our afternoon cycling the Monument Valley Pathway along the North Platte River in Scott's Bluff then visiting Rebecca Burdick Winters grave. ://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca_Winters_(pioneer). We had some awesomely delicious steak nachos at the Steel Grill for dinner.
Wednesday we were up early for a 6 mile hike at Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area where we also visited their Nature Center. Next we went to Chimney Rock National Historic Site and Visitors Center. https://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/scotts_bluff/chim…

We've enjoyed our stay in Nebraska... LOTS of Oregon Trail history, sugar beets, corn, potatoes and sugar beet refineries.
