The great Ocean Road is legendary for its scenery and it did not disappoint
There were some big waves coming out of the southern oceanAnd exploring the rocks and rock pools was a highlightWe stopped at a dam on the drive to Apollo BayWe also explored the local region (quite mountainous) - this is one of the many waterfalls113And impressive forests of many varieties of tree such as the pines1This koala seemed very relaxedAnother koala1More koalas1Look at his face! 🐨Our caravan park was right on the edge of the ocean1Seals on their island2Up close with the drone there is a lot of activity going onWe were all quite worn out at the end of all the exploringThe driving along the Great Ocean Road when we left was super windy. And windy! 😂But we saw many interesting things like this iconic pole house

    Apollo Bay

    March 4, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

We have been to many beachside towns in our travels, but Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria was one of the best.

It had an amazing coastline with large crashing waves. Our caravan park was right on a peninsual into the ocean with great beaches and rock pool walks, as well as a thriving seal colony on an island just out to see.

We also saw our first koalas in the wild! We were thrilled to find 4 koalas in trees by a river as well as by the road.

We also enjoyed the local town with a pub that was the southern-most on the mainland and a cafe with amazing vanilla slices!
