Brea to Santiago

Short walk today. 10kms to Santiago. I started early, probably past only about 6 or 8 pilgrims. Arrived at the Credencia Office was number seventeen in line. A lot of people are in Santiago. I’m staying at the Seminario Menor. It sleeps a lot of pilgrims in mixed dorms. This will be my third time staying here. I reserved a bed online and I’m grateful I did. They were completely booked up. I’ve never experienced that here before. I would never have thought it to be a concern or possibility before. A lot of people.

Nothing too spectacular about the walk into Santiago. Walking mostly beside roads. Happy to be here.

I got to see the botafumeiro swing in the Cathedral de Santiago - finally! They used to only do it once a week and on Fridays and I never arrived on a Friday. Now they do it every day at the 12:00pm mass. The mass had a huge line up to get in and we arrived forty minutes before the mass was supposed to start. I got standing room by a pillar.

Heading to Madrid on Wednesday, then home.Read more
