We spent two nights at Muloorina Station, situated 50 kilometers north of Marree and on the edge of Lake Eyre. One of the highlights was the artesian bore that flows into Frome Creek, creating hot springs that are perfect for relaxing with a happy hour drink. During the day, we took a drive on the public access road to Lake Eyre, where we walked out onto the lake. The surface was covered with a thick crust of salt over brown mud, and along the edges, we saw small dead birds and fish that had succumbed to the lake's salinity. One evening, we were visited by a few local Poll Herefords who decided to take a paddle in front of our camp. The nights were dark and starlit under a moonless sky, and in the mornings, we woke to the sound of many bird species chirping away. It was a fantastic camping experience, thanks to the insider tips from Fiona.Read more
