    Cartagena Week 1

    17 September 2022, Kolombia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

This was the very first week of my travels through South America. I destinctly remember getting off the plane and being surprised by the heat of Cartagena, but also, more importantly, instantly falling in love with the energy of the place. My first taxi driver told me a lot of things about the city, including which parts of the city are safe, and which parts of the city I should stay away from. And so, with a little bit of a shock delivered by danish friend from the school began my time in South America. During my first week, I met amazing people, defrosted my frozen Spanish from High School and fell in love with Colombia. I also got to learn about a "tradition" our Spanish school Nueva Lengua has: the Mojito Miercoles. This means that the one day of the week that's reserved for partying is Wednesday. Going back to school was partily a strange experience, but mostly a necessary one. Through the lessons I had together with a lot of my friends I managed to become semi-intermediate again. We also simply had a very fun group. Some of the fun things we ended up during my first week there was: go to Bocagrande, walk around the old town, have cooking and dancing classes and enjoy the energetic atmosphere of the streets of Cartagena.
