Tues Oct 4, 11:30 am: Albuquerque

Albuquerque is long stop for Amtrak. It is on the order of 45 minutes. Which means you have time to go explore a little bit. However, if you don't make it back to the train when it is time to go, it leaves without you. There's a full size grocery store on a block from the train station, so if you are in coach, you can stock up on food. Or if you need to stock up on New Mexico chilies you can go there, as well.

We pulled in a little late, so I went for a very brisk walk for about 20 minutes. And then I loitered on the platform for over half hour, because we pulled out even more late. They have vendors selling jewelry and blankets and other souvenirs on this station platform. There were only a couple out today. It looks like there may be many more on the weekends.Read more
