Bitter Springs

Wow, another magical place! Bitter Springs was a lot more natural than Mataranka Hot Springs, it had not been barricaded off or made into a pool. It was beautiful long river, you got in in the middle and the current carried you down to the end. We brought our goggles, so we could explore the underwater world of Bitter Springs with its masses of fallen trees. Everyone had a great time swimming underneath all the different logs.

After one drift we got back in and swam right up the opposite end, we had the place to ourselves. The water up this end was especially clear as there was no one kicking up the silt. We spent hours swimming around and exploring. Brett and I went as far as we could go right up into the reeds finding really hot spots, it did get a little bit creepy, I kept wondering if a crocodile would be hiding up there!Read more
