  • Surprise swim with Dolphins

    March 20, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Today we swam with dolphins 🐬 😁🤗.

We ducked down for a quick swim/surf before we left Daly Head and there was a pod of dolphins in really close to the shore! Lachlan paddled straight out, after snapping a few photos Brett threw a boogie board at me and said “get out there”!. Well you don’t have to tell me twice! I was straight in, bringing Brax with me.

    It was amazing!

The dolphins hung around for hours, once people saw us swimming with them they started to come down and swim out as well. The boys spent hours surfing with the dolphins, what an epic way to spend our last day at Daly Head! I tell you what it made it very hard to leave.

  • Pink Lake and Watertower- Yorktown

    March 20, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

In Yorktown there is a salt lake trail, and some of them are pink. So pretty, they are sparkly, but you can’t capture that in a photo🤨.

When flying the drone, Brett noticed that one was shaped like Australia.

There is also an art water tower trail, but we just visited one.

  • Boys Trip - First Stop

    March 24, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

First stop for the boys was, Point Lowly. We scored a waterfront spot. Brett got the boat down hoping to go out with the boys and get some squid. The wind had other ideas, but they toughed it out and got a few small ones, enough to feed us all for dinner.

The kids made some friends and did some jetty jumping.

  • Boys Trip- Greenly Beach

    March 26, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

We rolled into Greenly Beach in time for a ripper sunset.

We thought the following day might have been a flop, because we nearly got blown into the ocean overnight, the winds were so strong. Luckily we woke up to a amazing day.

We watched the most playful dolphins while we had our morning coffees, then it was off for a walk to inspect the rock pools. We spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach, swimming and surfing.

Not to much rest though, with this short time frame it was time to move onto yet another spot.

As we were packing up to leave, I was getting annoyed at how bad the toilet smelt, and I didn’t know why, it had been emptied and cleaned the day before. I kept pacing the van, it was strange it only smelt outside the bathroom, I thought maybe the drains? I started to sniff around, it was coming from the boys beds! As I sniffed the smell got stronger near Lachlan’s small back pack, I opened it, wrong move, it was putrid. There was prawns ! Yes prawns. A few days ago he had caught prawns and was using them as bait, apparently, he stored them in his bag! 🤢. The bag went in the bin and the van no longer smells!

  • Boys Trip - Brett’s Cave Tours

    March 28, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

    Talia Caves and Murphy’s Haystacks

Brett took Pete and Mick out for an early morning visit to Talia Caves, whist the kids and I stayed back and caught up on some school work.

The morning suddenly turned into a rescue mission! Pete had gone bush to do a number 2, when we realised had been gone far to long so Brett deployed the drone. With almost no reception where we were staying, we suddenly got a message ‘ I am lost, on a dirt road, 1% battery left.’ Oh no!

The drone was no good, the bush was to dense, so Mick drove off in one direction and we went in the other, luckily it didn’t take long and we found Pete safe and sound. Shovel and toilet paper in tow!

  • Boys Trip - Brett’s Sea Lion Tour

    March 29, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

    Baird Bay

Whilst in Baird Bay, the boys got to experience a Brett’s Adventure. Brett took them out on multiple fishing charters to catch whiting, and the best charter of all swimming with the Sea Lions.

Once again we got this epic experience all to ourselves, there were sea lions everywhere and they just wanted to play.

Our fav was a little pup that just wanted to get up close and personal for some snuggles. This made Brax and Lachie’s day as they got to sit on the shallow reef and give it lots of pats. Brax thought it was very funny when it started to nibble on his flipper.

  • Perlubie Last Day

    April 5, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Our last day at Perlubie the weather turned, windy and rainy, but a bit of excitement was the really high tide that came in.

Then, as the tide went down the wind died off, the rain stopped and the cloud cleared to a stunning evening. So we enjoyed a campfire with our neighbours.Read more

  • Oh no 😢, we broke down!

    April 8, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Pulling into Penong, the car just did not sound right. The next day, the poor Triton was being towed away.

The extra premium NRMA roadside cover that we got in February is paying off. We got the van towed out to Cactus and they are paying for us to stay here while the car gets fixed! However, I doubt this will make much of a dent in what we will have to pay to get the car fixed.

Update: it only took a week for them to get the car back to us and it was not to hefty. $1200 to get the mighty Triton on the road again. A few belts replaced in the engine mount and she is as good as new 👌.

  • Cactus Mishaps

    April 25, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Brett always says “A cut will ruin your holiday”!

Well I guess Lachie has found that out! During a fun game of Storm the Lantern with the neighbours he cut his foot open on a stick. Luckily our other neighbour is a paramedic, his skills were called into action. We decided to superglue his foot shut to avoid a late night drive into Ceduna for stitches.

Lachlan will have to stay out of the water for a few days while his foot heals and give the late night games of lantern a rest.

  • Abalone Dinner at Cactus

    May 11, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

The swell dropped off today, so Brett and I grabbed our snorkels and went looking for abalone. It didn’t take long before I spotted one, it was a biggen too! Not long later we had 9 huge abs, so we were on our way in.

While we were out abalone diving, Brax and Lachie took themselves out for a surf in the corner at Cactus, they said it was one of their best surfs. They are getting so grown up and confident.

We had a seafood cook up with mum, dad and our fellow camper Matt who just loved his cooking, so we let him take the reins for the night.

The best thing is not only do we get to eat the delicious abalone, but we are left with the most stunning shells 😍.
