• Belem Tower -belem

    10 juni 2018, Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

This was built 1515-1520, a white Manueline building protecting Lisbons tower. Lots of carved stones representing ropes, manuals coat of arms, armillary spheres and shields with the cross of the Order of Christ charged with spreading the fait in the new territories.---rick steeves

It was of course closed, but the sun came out just briefly as we approached. I got some good shots with the other camera, but not the cell phone, it had died in the botanical garden... surprise surprise.

Colin and I both dipped our hand in the Atlantic sea here, at one time this tower was further out into the water, but now after reclamation of the land it is accessible at low tied. Kind or like the island in front of the cabins we use to stay at at Tofino. only accessible at low tide.
