Started today off with a run around the ship! Today was a 10 miler day since it was pretty hot. Definitely an upgraded view from my parking lot laps i was running a few weeks back. We got a hot chocolate with our friends who so happen to be from Columbus, Indiana! We met them day 2 at a mixology class and see them daily now.

We also got to see the frozen show tonight in the Walt Disney Theater. Such a fun performance. Ate at Tiana’s Place tonight before our big day in Pago Pago tomorrow!

After American Samoa we got to do Pirates in the Caribbean night! It’s a show night that they do on the cruises in the Caribbean normally but since our trip is a longer one we got to do it! Katlyn and I both dressed up and got to go on deck for a little party! I also got the special pin for crossing the equator!Read more

Stop 1 on the cruise to Australia! Pago Pago, American Samoa!

This was a super interesting stop for us because it is somewhere we didn’t know much about other than it’s a US territory.

We learned today that American Samoa agreed to the territory agreement with the US with the condition they handle all civil matters within their tribes, not within a US court system. It was truly a beautiful country. You could feel the pains of it being the first ever Disney cruise here, but the kindness of the people outweighed the stress of the excursion.

We went to a traditional ‘Ava ceremony today, it was super amazing to see and learn more about ceremonial moments!

We got back 2 hours late, i highly recommend in these areas using the cruise line excursion due to timing. You never know what can happen out here!Read more

After American Samoa we jumped over the dateline! The day after American Samoa I was incredibly sick and couldn’t figure out why. It turns out coconut water can cause upset stomach and after drinking a full one in American Samoa it really took me down. I recovered about 24 hours after but I learned my lesson for sure.Read more

Fiji was beautiful but not quite what we expected! The island was gorgeous but it was a significant drive from port to any of the activities. We chose to do a day at a resort to be able to experience the Fiji waters. The resort was like out of a postcard and it would be beautiful to stay on a property like that, but to get around the island and do anything else was hard.

At the resort we swam and had a traditional Fijian lunch. Then after words it was time to head back to port. One of the interesting things about Fiji is we saw all 3 prisons and they have a program where when you get out of jail they give you a plot of land to help start your life afterwards.

Overall while we enjoyed Fiji it isn’t necessarily somewhere that is on a must hit again list for me. It was beautiful and amazing, but the travel time from the US is so long and i think there are many other areas to go and see in this region of the world.Read more

Day 7 at sea was another typical day for us! Disney has had a National Geographic photographer on board so I got to attend one of his photographer talks which was awesome! We also got to try and draw captain minnie which didn’t go too well. Another gorgeous sunset!Read more

New Caledonia was far and away our favorite stop which neither of us expected going into this trip. This is a French territory in the South Pacific and the French influence is very strong. I personally really loved the island for the beauty and the specific plants and animals that live only here.

They have a bird here, which we did not see, that cannot fly and barks and hisses. Their national bird also can build tools with its beak similar to the level of primates. The trees I am standing with are a type of pine only found here and as we sailed up looked like seaweed springing out of the mountains.

In the morning we did the Tchu Tchu train tour which went around the island and had two stops. They have many bays in New Caledonia (Latin for new Scotland according to our guide) one of which is named orphan bay. New Caledonia started off as an island for French political prisoners, so at one point they sent a girls orphanage here to marry the political prisoners which is how one of the main bays got the name.

The natives here are called the Kanaks. The Kanak flag is the flag you will see flying here along with the French flag, and there is a movement to rename the territory the Kanak Republic.

They have had multiple votes to gain independence from France, but after 3 votes they have continued to elect to say a territory. It is a current movement in the country so it would be interesting to see if that changes soon. All residents here have full French passports and full access to the EU. They are full French citizens and have access to their health care. This differs from American Samoa in the sense American Samoans do not have full US passports and are not considered US citizens.

There was so much to do here, and somewhere I hope I can get back to one day.Read more

Second to last day at sea! We did Palo brunch which was amazing! We were super full by the end, but on a longer cruise like this it was worth the stop. Their bread service was amazing.

We went up to watch the sunset and found Captain Mickey and Pluto wandering and after that we had dinner at Tiana’s Place for Mardi Gras night!

Today was a very stormy day. There was an Antarctic from that came up and really gave us some rocky seas. We had 15-20 foot waves while on board, and the captain came over the PA in the rooms and told the crew to report to their positions. It was a crazy day for sure but cool to watch Disney assemble into positions.

While we are sad to leave the wonder it was an incredible 2 weeks aboard. Katlyn described it like leaving summer camp and I agree with that sentiment. Such a cool experience to be on board with lots of hard core Disney fans and watch everyone get excited for this Disney first.Read more

We decided to start the day with the Hop on Hop off bus tour and that was a great way to get to know the city! We did this in Greece as well to see as much as possible in a few short days. We really enjoyed this and highly recommend staying in the Circular Quay area!Read more

This was a find from Katlyn and another great way to see the city and learn more from a local about what it’s like to live there. We learned lots about the aboriginal people in Australia and how the Australian government is taking steps to commemorate their people.

Sydney has lots of different foods and all were amazing! Highly recommend Sydney if you’re a foodie!Read more

This was super close to our hotel which was great! The botanical gardens were amazing and might be my favorite I’ve ever been to. I learned after I left the purple flower pictured is an artichoke fully bloomed! The whole area back here was amazing and a great way to wrap up day 1!Read more

This was one of my favorite parts of Sydney!! The zoo was amazing! We saw so many animals here (not pictured a platypus because they’re nocturnal). The zoo here had enclosures humans could walk into instead of only fenced zoos like the ones in the US which is how I got so close to the kangaroo! (There was a volunteer from the zoo not pictured here)

We got to see the Capybara too which was super exciting. Pictured below are

This was such a highlight for me but also one of the scariest things I’ve ever done! The bridge its self was fine, but the path you take to get to the bridge was a mix of wood planks and steel bars. Also for as tall as I was there was a lot of ducking.

I normally have 0 fear of heights and being on the bridge took some getting used to. It was for sure a cool experience (not sure if Katlyn agrees) and something I’d do again!

If anyone here is considering doing it book the twilight trip! It was a great time to go and not too dark.Read more

Departing to Singapore and Singapore to Mumbai! Sydney was a super cool airport with a lot of very nice shops! Something to keep in mind with Sydney is that the counters don’t open the same amount in advance as US so like the delta table only opened 3.5 hours before Katlyn’s flight time. From here Katlyn went back on a long haul flight to the US and I went on!Read more

I get why this is a top rated airport in the world! It was beautiful to fly through and kept me entertained for a few hours. They had so many duty free shops as well as so many gardens!

The first shot is one of the most notable for the Singapore airport and that’s called the Jewel. You can take the train through there, but not able to enter it unless you exit and reenter security. They also have a tour if you have over a 5.5 hour layover of Singapore and the airport! I highly recommend if you layover here try and see the tour because I wish I could’ve.

With the new Disney ship coming to SEA and basing from Singapore I know I’ll be back soon. I am looking forward soon to seeing the city!Read more

This was a day mostly adjusting to time zones and getting used to India! I spent the morning at Vedant’s office learning about the family business which was super cool to see. In the afternoon Vedant and I went to the mall which is one of our favorite things to do together. It was cool to see a mall here in India and see the food options. Here they have a McDonald’s Cheese Burger which is a cheese patty, and they eat Donuts as a dessert all the time.Read more

Today Vedant and I went down further into Mumbai. We saw the Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal Palace which is where American presidents and British royalty have stayed when visiting Mumbai. We had tea at the hotel and enjoyed the sunset near the water. The tea and snacks were awesome.

On our way here Vedant’s car was rear ended by a driver. No damage to us or really the car. The driver informed Vedant his brakes were not working. Vedant is a really good driver here so all was good. On our way back it took us 3 hours to go 30 km or 17 miles. Crazy traffic here but Vedant and I are enjoying the time catching up after a year apart.Read more

We had a super fun morning exploring Amritsar Downtown. We saw the golden temple during the day, and the Jallianwala Bagh which was a garden where the British came in and massacred 1200 Indians in 1919. The general who lead it was later removed from his position by the British government for his actions.

Amritsar was a beautiful town and I’m happy we got to come up here!Read more

In the afternoon we went to the Wagah border which is the border crossing that India and Pakistan share. We got to see a ceremony they do daily where they lower the flag and shake hands. There was a huge turn out, with my passport we got preferred seating.Read more

First night in Delhi! We didn’t have time to do too much, but we stopped at the gate of India which is a WW2 memorial here in Delhi for the Indian soldiers lost. They sent nearly 2.5 million people to fight for the British army during the war.Read more

Our full day in Delhi was a success! We started off the morning at the Red Fort, and from there went to a market across the road. We jumped on a bike and the guy pedaling ended up taking us to a spice market which was super cool. After we went to Agrasen Ki Baoli which is the photo of Vedant and I pictured. It was an old bathing area and it was super cool to see. We then ended up at Hyumuans Tomb which was a super beautiful memorial site. Finally we ended at the Lotus Temple which is the lotus looking photo here at sunset. You can also see the air pollution in the sky in this photo, it’s been a cloudy few days here in Delhi due to pollution.
