    Sharks and stories at the MuSeaUm

    Well these Sydney-siders have got the art of tempting passers-by down pat! We hadn't even heard of the MuSeaUm until walking past it on the way to Darling Harbour - ended up changing our plans to spend almost two days centered around Australia's National Maritime Museum!

    The first day, we realized that we would not have enough time to visit all of the exhibits behind the paywall, so we decided to go for the free part of the museum to get warmed up. The special topic was sharks and the not-so-secret message: Please stop eating us! Highlights included handling a modern shark chainmail glove, as well as some real and replica teeth, and lots of cool shark-themed models.

    Stories about sailors, ships and battles won and lost, especially around Australia's history as a penal colony, were more interesting for the parents than the kids. There was still plenty for them too, in the form of gigantic restored engines from decommissioned vessels and learning about some of the amazing men and women who have circumnavigated the world.
