      Entre soleil et nuage

      January 14 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Last but not least - Sydney 😎

      February 25 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

After a decent flight with an extraordinary sunset view from the plane, I landed in Sydney late in the evening. 🛬
Checking in at the hostel was a bit of a shock... it's actually the worts hostel I stayed at during my whole trip. 😅 I already knew it's not the best one and currently under construction, but my room for the first two nights was pretty disgusting with stains on the ceiling (water damage?), a weird smell in the room, and last but not least the sound of rats scratching inside of the wall 😵‍💫 but well...it's just for two nights, so I'll survive 😬
The first morning in Sydney I decided to check out the CBD. 🏙
Walking through the Botanical garden & seeing the famous Opera house kind of felt a bit like a dream come true 🤩
After enjoying the view for quiet a while I just walked around, went to the Circular Quay and Darling harbour, visited a local weekend market and been to some other sights. ✌🏼
Sydney is actually a really nice and green city - even though it lacks a bit of history tbh 🤫
For the evening I met up with the swiss traveller I got to know in Cairns in order to enjoy the sunset with a great view on the opera house 🥰

"It's getting better all the time"

      March 11 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

To quote Paul McCartney and Robyn Plunkett "Its getting better........." And we had a pretty cruisie day.
Our first night was pretty good, the bed was cosy and warm and we didn't fight about not having enough bed. Sometime during the night an animal scurried across the roof top and at another time a couple of animals had a very loud fight.
It was misty in the morning and after breafast and a shower we went for a coffee at the jetty - coffee was great. Then we had a walk around wineglass beach - there were lots of people doing the same thing, some had bikes, some with fishing rods - a few swimming - the water looked great - but we will wait for a few more days until we are sure Covid has gone.
We came back and sat for a while then had lunch. Nothing exciting, some wraps.
In the afternoon it was quite warm, we headed up hill to a town area - the plan was for afternoon coffee, but the cafe with the reputation was closed for coffee, but we found some at a icecreamery.
Then we walked home via a beatiful walkway along the rocky coastline - we dropped down into sandy bays and admired the colourful and rocky scenery.
Gran is cooking her first meal of the gas stove - I cooked porridge with fresh dates this morning.
We have booked a camp site north of here at St Helens - so will make our way there - but not until we have walked up to the Wineglass Bay lookout - see photo. It could be a tough climb, but we want to give it a go.
Not a lot to say other than we did enjoy relaxing and getting more comfortable with this way of holidaying.
The park has filled up from empty this morning and the internet goes so slooooooowww. Got 4 imaged up will try for a couple more later.

      Birthday at Bondi Beach 🥰

      March 6 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

🥳🍻Read more

      Embarkation Day

      March 1 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 75 °F

Today, we boarded the Majestic Princess to begin our cruise to New Zealand. The day began with a delicious breakfast at The Nook. Then we made our way to the ship and dropped off our bags. We had a free hour before boarding would begin, so we did a bit more exploring in The Rocks. Once onboard, we settled into our room and spent some time exploring the ship.Read more

      Ostern in Sydney

      April 16, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

      Sydney Harbour

      April 15, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

      April 17, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

Freu mich schon drauf ganz neu durchzustarten. 🤩 Aber jetzt muss ich morgen erstmal durch all die Transits bis nach Österreich kommen, was bis jetzt ja eigentlich fast nie so wirklich gut funktioniert hat 😅

      Bye, bye Sydney

      February 28 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Schau mir dann später Günters Bilder an...

Teil unserer Reise in Neuseeland.

      The Sydney Opera House

      February 29 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 91 °F

We arrived in Sydney this morning, and after clearing customs and immigration we took an Uber to our hotel downtown. It was too early to check in, but we changed clothes and dropped our bags, and then set off to explore.

Our first stop was a guided tour of the Sydney Opera House. The iconic design was conceived by Jørn Utzen, a then unknown Danish architect who won an international design competition in 1957. Construction took 16 years, hampered by numerous engineering, construction, managerial, and political challenges. The project was ultimately completed by a group of three Australian architects and opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973.

Today, the Opera House serves as a multipurpose event center hosting opera, plays, concerts, and even performances by local students. It's a beautiful building, and definitely the pride of Sydney.
