    Southampton is familiar to Americans as a cruise port, its association with the Titanic and as a 10th century walled city . More personally, my dad shipped out from NYC 1918 to serve in the infantry during WWI, disembarking here for some training before landing in LeHavre, France. Dan and I visited in 2017 enjoying a brew at the Dancing Man Pub, formerly a woolen house and later a maritime museum. Today, after a pint of Big Bad Stout, we wandered through the old town - the walled part of the city center. After passing through arches in the wall, we found a huge retail/entertainment center, IKEA, Mark's and Spencer. Now our 3-hour jet lag nap has refreshed us!Read more
