    Easter Sunday

    March 31 in Guatemala ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Barry & James woke at 330am to summit for sunrise and complete a crater run. We stayed at camp with the kids and enjoyed sunrise. The crater run was at 4000 meters and apparently the hardest thing the lads have ever done. (Barry 3:45, James 3:58 great times according to Phillip our lead guide who is super fit and completed it in around 4 mins)
After brekkie and pack up we headed back down the volcano, altitude headaches quickly improved but it was so slippy we all fell...multiple times! No injuries thankfully. By the time we reached the end we were all filthy, exhausted and in desperate need of a shower but boosted by such an achievement. The kids completed the trek so easily, always up the front with Phillip. Everyone we passed on the way up and down couldn't believe how young they were and how easily they were finding it especially the girls who were mini celebrities and loved the attention and applause. Back in Antigua it was time to celebrate with more Easter processions, street murals and a well deserved drink!
