    Pigeon Valley

    Another stop at a viewpoint. The pigeons refer to the people keeping pigeons in the little bird houses carved in the rock. This was done nor only in this valley but all over the region. They collected the bird droppings for fertilizer and also used the birds as courier pigeons.

    Also visible from here is Uchisar Castle which is actually a natural rock formation used as cave dwellings as is the case all around this region, and particularly as a defense position going back to Byzantine times.
