Palace of Charles V

Not much to see inside other than a brief visit to the courtyard. The Palace is, however, the home of the excellent Alhambra Museum. We enjoyed the museum of artifacts from the site housed in a museum constructed to both finish the never completed palace and house these objects.

Its name is due to the fact that it was Carlos V, grandson of the Catholic Monarchs, who, as a result of his wedding with Isabel of Portugal in Seville and subsequent honeymoon in the Alhambra, was impressed by the beauty of the Nasrid Palaces. In this way, he commissioned the construction of a new palace for his residence and to glorify the triumph of Christianity in Spain.. The works began in 1533 and suffered many delays until they were finally concluded in 1637, without finishing the construction and the Palace was never occupied.Baca lagi
