    The origins of the Museo del Prado, or Prado Museum, can be traced back to 1785, when the building in Madrid that the Prado now occupies was commissioned by King Charles III. The museum contains the most complete collections in the world of the works of El Greco, Velázquez, and Francisco de Goya, as well as of such Spanish masters as José de Ribera and Francisco de Zurbarán.
