• A foodie day in KL

    3 Julai, Malaysia ⋅ 🌩️ 31 °C

We made a trip out to Petaling Jaya for an early lunch. According to our Singaporean friends (who often travel to Malaysia for foodie trips), this is THE restaurant for KL’s best nasi lemak. They even get takeway back to Singapore! 😅
At first I wasn’t sure about the 30min drive to Village Park Restaurant, but I’m glad we made time to come here. I was surprised by how busy it was for a weekday morning (10.30am). The dining space here comprises of many long communal tables, but we managed to get a small table to ourselves. The most popular and recommended dish to try here is the Nasi Lamak Ayam Goreng. We ordered two serves of this, and two of the kaya butter on toast to share. It didn’t take long for the nasi lamak to arrive, and I was really excited to drive straight into the fried chicken. Fried to a perfect texture, the chicken skin is crispy and meat is juicy and tender. We polished off everything quite easily, and can see why this restaurant attracts crowds queuing for the popular nasi lamak. Bonus points for the cost; we paid less than $20 AUD for all meals + drink, and more on Grab to get us there and back but it was definitely worth it.

The rest of the day was relaxing, with some time by the hotel pool, a 90 min massage at St. Gregory Spa and a load of washing.

Jasmine and I went on a food & city tour in the evening (Mum decided to stay in and rest and recover from swollen feet and ankles).
The tour guide (Michelle), picked us up from the hotel at 6pm to begin the ‘yummy yummy street food tasting and city tour by night’
The tour started with a visit to a Chinese temple and Merdeka 118 tower (world’s 2nd tallest tower), before being stuck in traffic for almost an hour so we didn’t get to have any yummy street food until after 8pm.
The chicken satay sticks were my favourite- I could have finished the satay sauce with some steam rice if I could fit it in!
After dinner, we made short visit to the twin towers before heading back to the hotel.
