    Szechenyi Baths

    Had another excellent day in Budapest. Had a lovely breakfast with our new best Peter, who has a lovely cafe near our hotel.

    We then headed out the Szechenyi Baths and had an amazing day relaxing in the outdoor pools. It's a lovely environment and even though there are lots of people there are plenty of spaces to chill and relax. Whilst there we also indulged in a Beer Spa which was a lot of fun!

    We followed that up with a hot stone dinner and looking forward to our final full day in Budapest tomorrow    Okumaya devam et

    Last Day in Budapest

    After four days of marvelous weather and good time in Budapest today was our last full day before a big day of travel heading to Berlin tomorrow.

    Today we went to the food hall in the morning, which in all honesty was disappointing compared to other we have been to in the past, but still interesting to see.

    From there we spent the rest of the morning in the Hungarian National Museum which provided a fascinating and chronological history of Hungary and its people through to the end of the 1990s.

    After that we headed over the Parliament district on the river to enjoy what will most likely be the last of these really lovely sunny days before winter starts to be felt.    Okumaya devam et

    Travel Day - Budapest to Berlin

    A massive day of travel today, two trains, three countries and 13 hours but finally arrived in Berlin.

    It's always an interesting city not the prettiest after visiting Vienna and Budapest but has a strange pull still.

    Found an early Xmas market in Postdamer Platz and making some more plans based on the current weather whilst having a few drinks    Okumaya devam et

    Mueseum of Technology & Bundestag

    Grey and cold day in Berlin. Headed out to the Museum of Technology in the morning, which was a very good museum for trains, planes, computers and general technology. You would need to spend the entire day there to do it justice, but an excellent stop.

    In the afternoon we headed over to Brandenburg Tor and had some lunch. Finally got a Schweinshaxe for lunch which was most enjoyable.

    We then went into the Bundastag dome which sits atop the Parliamentary chambers which provides an excellent view over the city, just unfortunately a foggy day. They also provide a very good audio guide stepping through the history of the German Parliament and key buildings.

    Following the we went to the Zoo Palast near Zoo Station to have a look at the Depeche Mode concert film. A very impressive cinema complex!!!    Okumaya devam et

    East Side Gallery

    Another day in Berlin, this morning we visited the East Side Gallery which is a section of the old Wall with various artworks. We frost visited in 2010 and it was interesting to see how the artwork had changed over time.

    In the afternoon we did some shopping and the had some cocktails before dinner.

    Dinner was a lot of fun in a steak house called Beast that had excellent food with a playful twist.

    Miss Moneypenny is having a good holiday also and she had a photoshoot today for the 2026 Capalaba Cat Cottage calendar.    Okumaya devam et

    Public Service Broadcasting

    A grey and wet day in Berlin, so we took the opportunity to have a fairly relaxing day without much sight seeing. Did some exploring of 2nd hand records shops in the morning and had a nice morning tea in a very non-tourist area which we nice

    This evening we went out to a concert to see Public Service Broadcasting support by EERA. Was a great night, and met a lot of people wait for the show start...another late night!

    Travel Day - Berlin to Hamburg

    First bit of sun for a few days as we where leaving Berlin. Think we have done what we need to do in Berlin now.

    Short train trip to Hamburg today and staying in quite a quirky Hotel this time. Spent the early afternoon checking out the local area, which is the old warehousing and customs area. Lovely old buildings which survived the war.

    This evening we went out to the Winterdom and then found ourselves in the local red light area including appropriately themed Xmas markets. Lol.

    Early one tonight as it's another big night tomorrow with another concert..    Okumaya devam et

    Hamburg, but no Hamburgers

    Today we had a bit of a late start and headed over to the docks and got on a 2 hour cruise around Hamburg… we saw the old docks area where we are staying, the shipping port (including the recycling centre) and the city itself from the water. It’s an excellent mix of old and new buildings, where anything old has been restored with care.
    We then headed into the city centre and had a lovely lunch in a French Bistro, followed by a wander around s town.
    Tonight we are hanging out in a bar under our hotel.    Okumaya devam et

    Miniature World

    Final full day in Hamburg today, very grey and very wet so minimal exploring today. Took the opportunity to work on the repacking and send a parcel of clothes we don't need any more home. Exciting stuff.

    This evening we went to Miniature World which was excellent with many different area created, and immense amount of train track, cars and planes - one must say though that seemed to a lot of traffic jams and accidents. All in an all a good evening out.    Okumaya devam et

    Travel Day - Hamburg to Hannover

    A short 1 hour or so train trip to Hannover today. Unfortunately another grey and wet day today although the evening has fined up and is just quite cool. Snow is expected in the region next week.

    Spent the day exploring the town which has a lovely old Bavarian old town section where we had lunch. Again we are too early for the Xmas markets which are all under construction.    Okumaya devam et

    Hannover

    This morning we went to the Landesmuseum museum which was a nice small natural history museum with some interesting works of art and a good aquarium section. On the way we saw the Aegidien Church which is a ruined church that was left standing the war, and has been preserved to commerate those who lost their lives in the war. In 1985 Hiroshima gave the city a peace bell which now hangs in the ruins

    After that we went to the Neues (new) Rathaus which opened in 1913 after 12 years construction. Another lovely building and along with the Dome cinema one of the few in Hannover that where not destroyed during the war.

    Tomorrow is our last travel day returning to Frankfurt before starting the journey home on Tuesday    Okumaya devam et

    Home

    Had a good second leg home and managed to get some sleep which was nice, got in the house not long after midnight and had a good night rest. Will go and get Miss MP from here holiday this morning.

    It was an awesome trip, and I think the highlights would be doing the roof of the Dolmo in Milan, Lake Como, driving around the Alps, Budapest and seeing PSB in Berlin. Glad to be home, but sad to be done with this trip.
