    On the final day of the Egyptian leg of our trip, we visited the Khan Al Khalili, a medieval market built in the 14th century where you can buy just about anything. After a lunch of savoury and sweet fettir (stuffed pizza) at a local café, we poked around the market -- here, bargaining is a must! Mudi, our guide, brought us to the oldest coffee shop in the market, called El Fisharwy, started in the 1700s where we had tea Egyptian style, with mint!

    Before returning to our hotel, we were able to visit Al Azahar, one of Cairo's earliest mosques founded in 970.
    Students of the school/university in the mosque were practicing for a competition that would see them reciting the memorized Koran, the holy book for Muslims.
