South to Wadi Rum

After a long drive south, we arrived in Wadi Rum, a Protected Area, a valley known for its rock formations, sand dunes, and natural arches. This area is also famous for its link to Lawrence of Arabia and as the location for the movies The Martian, Dune, Star Wars, and Aladdin. While the local Bedouin live in villages today, they operate the various camps that enable visitors to experience the magic of the desert while bringing income to the area. There was a heavy rain and flash flooding in the area yesterday so access to Wadi Rum had been closed. On the way to the camp, we visited rock formations and walked barefoot in sand dunes. After watching the sun set on the valley, we were treated to a beautiful meal cooked by our Bedouin hosts. The stars overhead were brilliant! Czytaj więcej
