    Our walk to the church. On the right is an ancient monument, an 11th century castle mound.
    Cattle grazing on the castle mound, helping to preserve the site from overgrowing.The cemetery needs better mowing but there are flowers on several graves.The church sits on high ground.     Housesit in Aughton

    We're spending a week in Aughton, a small rural village about 16 miles south of York. The animals in our care are 3 dogs, 5 cats, a miniature Shetland pony, and a rare-breed Scottish sheep. We take the dogs (and sometimes a couple of cats come along) for a walk to the church twice a day. It's a historic Norman church that is still in use, and situated at the dead end of the town.Read more
